“I had a small hope that he might stay at Bayer Leverkusen for another year and then move on to an even bigger club. We’re fundamentally happy to have a player like that in Germany. He will have a sensational dream career. I’m firmly convinced of that. He’s already an exceptional player and, of course, still has room for improvement. We’ll have a lot of fun with this boy.”
I wonder if Adidas have a vested/contributing interest in bringing the next world footballing superstar to a club they help sponsor… If this being the case, it would be beneficial to parade him in their kit, as opposed to showing the Nike logo… Makes me think the unveiling might be held back until legally, LFC can do this…
In my opinion, Wirtz is better at allowing situations to develop. However, he needs to become more physically durable.
Wirtz also has to learn how to deal with pressure, which will be much more intense at Liverpool
Of course, I would have liked to see Wirtz in the Bayern jersey, but I can understand him moving elsewhere. For one thing, Arne Slot wants to develop a position with him, not just fill it.
6 weeks ago (before our interest in Wirtz was confirmed) it was reported that Bayern contacted Adidas and asked for financial help to finalize the Wirtz deal for them.
That alone is proof how influential Adidas have been in Wirtz’ decision.
Guess they told Bayern to fuck off and were happy with John Henry’s money being used instead to sign Wirtz for another club sponsored by Adidas.
