Former player: Curtis Jones

Good luck to him. Disappointed he’s gone. That’s partly down to Hughes probably not replacing him though. His tantrum in pre-season was silly as well.

I guess he knew he was going out and wanted to captain the team one last time. Still silly.

All the best Curtis, good luck with your career, you won everything and always gave you all.

Hope he does well in Italy, he’s a good lad.

Just never kicked on here to become the player we hoped he would.

It’s left us even weaker in midfield going into the new season, something I didn’t think was possible, so well done to all those concerned.

Given how well Trent and Anthony Gordon speak Spanish, i was expecting Curtis to give us a masterclass in Italian.

All the best to him. I think Serie A will suit him, and he’ll look class out there.

Not good enough to be in the club.

I thought he would improve but he hasn’t.

Atleast we get 30m for him and he hasn’t left us on a free like Trent and Konate.

Seemed a decent enough lad but hasn’t shown anything for him to indicate that he wanted to fight for his place in Liverpool. Or be starting regularly.

Isn’t the best news for the club losing a midfielder but the bright side is that we play Nyoni who looks to have better decision making abilities than Jones.

Good luck to him. I think he’s always seen himself as greater than his relative station within the club. I hope the move is fulfilling for his career.

He has a hard enough time with English

Now that Curtis is gone, do we have any local players left at all? Presumably there are a few in the U18s?

Danns ?

At some point. We’ll have to look into the local catchment areas and see why we aren’t getting good scouse players in.

Definitely, and he has a squad number, even if it is a bit high. I just feel our young players hit a brick wall these days. I could tell that Curtis was going to do things as soon as I first saw him.

i hope this is the club learning from TAA and Konate leaving on free’s.

if you dont sign a new deal,

we wont pander to you, instead we’ll look to sell you before your contract ends

Felt he could be a useful player , not indispensable.

We don’t have the likes of Gerrard , Trent in our current youth teams anymore. That’s mildly concerning w.r.t our local scouting teams considering the bitters seem to do a bit more better on that front

And another take away is that the conversations on a new contract have to take place when the player is 2 years away from his contract expiring and not when he’s entering his last year.

thats already happens no?

Gapko and Grav recently signed new deal?

Probably shows Liverpool don’t rate Jones in that level

I know Warrington isn’t quite local, but Joshua Abe has been in our academy since he was like 5 years old.
