Every reply individually typed, enveloped and stamped, of course. Then he would probably get Nessie to drop them in the pillar box on her way to the shops. ![]()
What is happening to our football heroes? ![]()
It is so sad.
They are getting old, Maria. Itās life.
I remember Kenny as a fresh faced 18 year old, breaking through at Celtic, and that exciting young lad Kevin, plucked from Scunthorpe and tearing up the First Division. ![]()
Several concerning points in here - why was Konate not talking to the team psychologists? It sounds very much like he was just left to his own devicesā¦
You go back to football because you have no choice. Weāre employees at a club that pays us every month, so we have duties. We had no choice but to go back on the field and play for him and his family ā as well as ourselves. Thereās no way of getting over it, but you learn to live with it.ā
KonatĆ© was also carrying the burden of knowing his father was seriously ill. āI didnāt know what to do. I didnāt know whether I should go home and stop playing, because the team needed me too.
āI didnāt know who to talk to about it, so I kept it all to myself. And this is the advice Iād give to everyone: when youāre feeling down or somethingās going on, you need to talk to those around you.
While on compassionate leave KonatĆ© called Liverpoolās then head coach, Arne Slot, to say he was returning to help the team in a defensive injury crisis, and he scored. But the centre-back knew things were not right. āThere was never a moment when I felt like I was on the mend,ā
whatever happens, i genuinely rated the big man as a footballer, even when he was going through this seasons issues, and he seems like a good Human.
i hope he finds inner peace and enjoyment.
best of luck Ibou⦠for me, YNWA
It sounds like he needed to get away from the place. Iām wondering if he had agreed to sign a new contract somewhat reluctantly, and then had another offer at the last minute?
This so sad and bad. He had nobody to talk to, he also lost his dad, no wonder he found it hard playing football and training. The whole team just didnāt want to play football, even Robbo said they didnāt want to play and go into training for weeks.
The club should have done something about it. They could have had hired an on-site team psychologist for the first six months at least to help the players.
I am quite certain that during Kloppās tenure, there was a psychologist at the AXA Training Centreāand that their services were utilized. There was actually a video about it at one point. I had actually assumed that they were still there, especially given the Jota tragedy. However, we havenāt heard anything about it, so who knows? Slot has, after all, already made quite a few changes.
I thought it was reported the club had brought in additional psychologists when Jota died.
Yes, actually, I believe that tooāand Ibou certainly could have taken advantage of it as well, even if opening up to āstrangersā would likely have taken some overcoming at first.
Thatās a good point, @Livvy .
Often, when people are struggling, they find it difficult to open up to anyone, much less a stranger, and even to those who know know them, such as work colleagues.
Nearly took this seriously for a minute⦠until I guessed it must have been Carragher himself that slipped it onto some forum :0)
Good grief. More AI slop. Some of those look nothing like them. Grobbelaar blonde? And Salah looks like the Yorkshire Ripper, FFS.
And Souness, Fowler, Alonso and Torres! But the order is even more egregious
And Sterling! FFS
Carra alongside Kenny.
