Im sure its mainly because that was what Liverpool looked like when I was first exposed to them as a kid, but the gold pin stripes is peak liverpool IMO. The only thing that comes close is the 60s-70s style plain red with white collar

Probably the best kit , most definitely the best liverpool team

Before the trip to Vladikavkaz in 1995:

Dennis Bergkamp would crap his pants just looking at that font.

I remember Gayle looking like the next big thing, but he had the likes of Dalglish and Johnson ahead of him. I do recall Fulham fans raving about him when he was on loan, though.

It rather sours the memory of Tommy Smith, though. The racism aimed externally at football clubs was bad enough back then, without it coming from inside as well.

Good on him…

The last three players whose penalties Kelleher has saved are Kylian Mbappe, Bruno Fernandes and Cristiano Ronaldo

That’s an excellent picture. The joyous reaction of CK against the obvious despair of so many in the crowd, and especially from that no. 7 :winking_face_with_tongue:

Unfortunately the sentiments were reversed at FT

Minutes away from another great Irish 0-0 away result

Although even a point wouldn’t really do much for their qualification hopes. The team is just not very good.

True. It would have been a lift after Armenia.

You’re dead right though, it’s one of the worst Irish sides I’ve seen in my lifetime.

Kelleher,O’Brien,Collins and Ferguson are our only decent players right now.Manning tends to perform well at times also. There are a few others who may also play in the PL but they are either getting on or are at a level where you’d expect them and their clubs to be fighting relegation at seasons end(Coleman, Doherty, Cullen). The rest are all championship level.
With a team like that you’d need a top manager to get more out of them than someone like Hallgrimsson will.

And even with that, qualification would leave them just trying to avoid being embarrassing also rans. They need to look at the FAI and why they are not creating better pathways for more skilful young players
