Former players and managers - general discussion

I forgot how good he also was on set pieces.

The epitome of a complete (and flawed) player.

Only player I have seen basically turn a game on his own by himself in the flesh. Shame about his attitude..

I loved his attitude,

Win at all costs and never give up

He didn’t need to bite anyone. Before he joined I remember that handball and I made the point on our predecessor that he did what anyone would do in a world cup.

That was in my view fine by me… he took a chance, got a deserved red card but allowed Uruguay to fight again, biting someone however is fucking nuts.

We’re pleased to share that our recent Legends game raised more than £1.1 million for the community, making the total amount raised by our Legends fixtures over £10 million overall :clap:

We’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our former players and management staff, but most importantly to our supporters, the best football family in the world

All the funds raised from the recent fixture will go towards supporting our employability programmes, helping equip people with the skills they need to access employment :sparkles:

Could do with this guy playing against PSG tomorrow…

Coutinho:

"Going to FC Barcelona was supposed to be the dream, yeah? But for me, it turned into one of the biggest mistakes of my career… maybe even my life.

At Liverpool FC, I was loved. Properly loved. The fans, the system, everything was built for me to enjoy football. And I walked away from that thinking the grass was greener, it wasn’t. Not even close.

At Barcelona, you don’t get time, you don’t get patience. One bad game and you feel it. Two bad games and you’re finished. People talk about pressure, but it’s different when the club already has legends in your position and you’re expected to replace magic overnight. I don’t think people understand that.

Do I regret leaving Liverpool? Yeah… I do. Because I left a place where I was happy for a place where I was constantly trying to prove I belonged. And in football, once you start chasing acceptance instead of enjoying your game, you’re already losing.

People can say what they want, but if I could go back… I would’ve stayed. Simple as that."

This is one of the cases where obviously a lot of fans were right (when there are shouts that a certain player should’ve stayed and not chase something bigger), although often I feel they’re wrong.

He really didn’t seem to fully enjoy what came next, even if that’s also often hard to judge from outside.

I tend to overlook Coutinho when I think about “what might have been” Liverpool players but it’s a damn shame that he couldn’t have been a part of Klopp’s greatest Liverpool side.

His style might have affected the balance of the side at times, I guess, and without that money, we almost certainly wouldn’t have got Van Dijk and Alisson but he was one of the last true proponents of what Brazilians referred to as Joga Bonito - how many football players bring that pure skill with them these days? Cherki perhaps?

I said back then that I trust Klopp when he says he would’ve rather kept Coutinho.

He sort of confirmed it a few days ago when he said he was excited to have the 4 big ones for half a season. We also flipped the formation for a while after that big loss to Tottenham at Wembley.

What would’ve happened next in terms of team evolution and possibly without Virgil and Alisson, who knows. Maybe we still would’ve landed one of them or some other players of the same or similar calibre.

We’ll just never know.

10 years ago today, I lived every boy’s dream in a Red shirt.
Scoring against Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League at Anfield — the lights, the noise, the Kop roaring as we fought back in one of the greatest European nights this club has ever seen.
That goal, that moment, that Liverpool shirt… it’s etched in my soul forever.
Still gives me goosebumps. Thank you to every teammate, every fan, and everyone who made that night magic.
This one’s for the memories that never fade. You’ll Never Walk Alone

Good luck tonight LFC. BELIEVE!

Amazed he admitted this. Fair play.

I do wonder if Trent will feel the same in a few years.

Though I don’t think we were that harsh towards Coutinho. It did upset me a little as he was one of those players who could something from nothing.

What Phil gave us indirectly (Ali and VVD) will be remembered, what Trent gave us, not so much. I am obviously not talking about their on field performance.
