Former players and managers - general discussion

Did he ever end up revealing who Parched was?

I kinda stopped listening to the podcast halfway through that series as it was starting to feel a little bit samey

Not sure where else to put this but just wanted to mention what a sterling job Neil Critchley has done at Blackpool this season. Like us, theyā€™ve struggled against the lower clubs in the league but have had some great results otherwise. They beat Oxford 3-0 away in the first leg of their play-off on Tuesday, so theyā€™re looking good for Wembley, unless they somehow get thrashed at home on Friday. If he gets them promoted that will be a remarkable turnaround in just over a year!

Delighted for Luis,
after been tossed away by Barca
then to go onto help Atletico win the league, brilliant stuff.

but then i am not surprised,
never have i seen a player with such a will to win,
he just lifts teams and drags them to victory,

if he was playing for us this season,
i am certain we would not have gone on such a bad run like me did,
the guy is infectious, in a good way.

Come on Jurgen, bring Luis back!

Youā€™re a poetā€¦ and you donā€™t know it.

I think heā€™s on a FaceTime call to Klopp. ā€œPlease, Please Jurgen, bring me back to Liverpool, itā€™s shit hereā€.

100% this.

I remember a game we were leading 3-0 and Suarez shoved away a defender trying to get to a loose ball, in the injury time.

Xabi won promotion with the Sociedad kids and got them back into the Segunda for the first time in decades.

Luis wearing shirts from other clubs - i get that. Itā€™s his job.

But his first son was born in Liverpool and his daughters name is an anagram for Anfield. Little traitors :grimacing:

True, although she was born before he signed for us.

Or did he already know he was on his way?

In fairness to them, they canā€™t appear in that photo in other clubs gearā€¦
If Luis wants them in his shots (Iā€™d argue that he should really keep them out of it but Iā€™m weird like that) then theyā€™re going to be in club gear. Realistically they will support whichever team they want anyway

Oh Albie!

Sounds like you were (still are?) popular with the players but seriously what you have to say about defending on here shows why you had to go.

ā€œNot understandingā€ is the reason why you arenā€™t playing at the very top, Alberto.

Schalke have signed Victor Palsson from Darmstadt for Ā£450k on a 1-year deal.

I was wondering why itā€™s in former players thread, so I asked Wiki. Then I remembered this wonder kid from FM10.

Well said.

Every player makes mistakes, sure, but not every player makes calamitous mistakes 5+ times a season (unless youā€™re Calamity James, who somehow has the most clean sheets of any PL goalkeeperā€¦I guess thatā€™s what longevity does for you). Regarding Moreno: when he got done by Jovetic in his first game, I thought ā€œah, thatā€™s OK heā€™ll learn.ā€ Now obviously our back 4 and head coach didnā€™t provide much defensive structure, so not all of our failings between 2014 and October 2015 were his fault, but getting caught on the break by Juan F**king Mata (arguably the slowest player ever) was inexcusable in and of itself.

If Albie turned it around and that was his only shite period, that would be excusable. Unfortunately, however, there are numerous other examples, not least that final and, a year-and-a-half later when he had supposedly rediscovered some form, costing us two further goals against his old side. And donā€™t even get me started about the 2016 opener at the Emirates!

When Robbo came in, Iā€™ll admit I had no idea how good he would be. And while I went ā€œwell, he canā€™t be as shit defensively as Moreno is,ā€ I had no idea how much of an understatement that was. Nice lad, donā€™t doubt his passion or anything, but just not good enough.

I have to say, they faked me out well in that article. I thought I was reading a redemption story about a player whose European lucky charm has struck again and is redeeming himself by helping the Yellow Submarine to another final.

No, heā€™s spent the whole season out injured and cannot get into the team. Carry on.
