Former players and managers - general discussion

Top bloke. Had a pint with him in the Albert once; nicest guy you could ever meet.

Note the black boots in the background. Much better than the multi coloured crap they wear now.

I used to have a mate that was in Kirkham open prison when Jan went there after his police chase ( ). He said one of the biggest knobheads in the place approached him on his first day and said, “If you need anything mate I’ll sort it for you. Jan,…I’m your man.”, and Mølby replied “Fuck off will you?”.

I remember Molby’s first game after his prison sentence, I think it was QPR in the FA Cup and he looked slimmer than ever.

The original Nat Philips?

I don’t think anybody said that was Molby in the picture.

People were referring to Molby because of a video a few posts up.

Thé boot room boy is Roy Evans - Liverpool’s last scouse manager and the last member of the boot room

whys that?

Can’t speak for @WooltonRed but for me it’s all to do with tradition.

Referees wore black and goalkeepers wore green; there was no such thing as a third kit and everyone knew where they were.

These days, it’s all change for change’s sake, all with the sole intention of draining the pockets of supporters.

Just because something is newer, doesn’t mean that it’s better.

yes, but why are black boots better than white ones?

surely the show ponies trying to stand out nowadays are wearing black boots…

@Redbj I much prefer the older brown boots:

Much better for kicking the crap out of each other. Of course technical skills were much more difficult to master and execute but who cares that’s for wet foreigners.

Had a moment myself!

They look better, Adidas Santiago, Adidas 2000. Made of leather, not synthetic crap and they had proper screw-in studs, not blades like today. I don’t remember anybody suffering a metatarsal injury back then. The modern boot offers zero protection.

ive got a pair of copas and a pair of newer styled nikes.

i used to think the copas were miles better than all the modern boots but i have to say the nikes are so fucking comfortable and shaped well…

When I imagine modern football boots I think of my slippers with blades. So get rid of the blades what do you have?
Beach ball in slippers?
I think it’s called progress.

Don’t forget Gola…
If you look at Roy Evans tee-shirt/jersey/top whatever it is…
You can just make out the crest name Gola.
They were the go-to back then big time
