Former players and managers - general discussion

That’s still positive, I think. Easy to fear the worst with Danny when it comes to knees so 6 weeks out following minor surgery is on the positive side. Hope he can continue his good run of form.

Quite an extraordinary climb down by WADA.
Sakho’s got some unbelievable lawyers.

“Good for Sakho”? He’s been very, very, very fortunate.

There’s absolutely no fucking way Sakho is on performance enhancing drugs, the fucking state of him.

Debrecen at home, oh boy that brings memories.

Ugly game, ugly Kuyt winning goal. Got in the bar early, secured our game on the biggest screen. The rest (read: everyone else) were watching Inter v Barca on a small TV.

:joy:

Now there’s an appropriate photo of Martin. Hopeless jersey puller!

I thought he was quite good at pulling jerseys, personally.

Best in the world at it. Thank God he was here pre VAR.

I cannot find a staff members’ thread, so I am placing the information in here.

Liverpool have seen head of post-match analysis Harrison Kingston depart the club to take up a role with the Moroccan Football Federation, leaving a big hole to fill.

Sociedad leading La Liga table. How is Xabi Alonso doing as their B-Team manager? Wouldn’t surprise me if he becomes Real Madrid manager after sacking Zidane.

Interesting read in the Guardian today on Alberto Aquilani and his time at Liverpool

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/nov/10/alberto-aquilani-we-lost-so-what-i-did-for-liverpool-was-forgotten

Turns out that Roy moved Alberto on for Joe Cole - downgrade?!

“I met Roy – he spoke to me in Italian and was a gentleman, but he told me he wanted to buy Joe Cole and make the team more English. It was obvious I would not get many chances to play so I decided it would be good for me to go back to Italy.”

Not exactly position for position however yes as it turned out Joe Cole was a big dissappointment though tbf to Woy and the recruitment team Joe appeared to be a good investment at the time due to his experience and past ‘exploits’.
I question whether Cole took it as a retirement arrangement or something.
I liked Alberto and he was quite a fan favorite (even though he was often sent back on loan to Italy) his influence at LFC was limited even so he never seemed to get regular starter status.
Joe on the otherhand got starts but never imposed on a game as I said a dissappointment (he did come on a ‘free’ though didn’t he?).
