Former players and managers - general discussion

He scored 7 league goals, which looks like a massive failure compared to today, and compared to his 30 with us a couple of seasons before. But the reality is at that time there was rarely more than one or 2 players who got into double figures in their first year. Being the 8th or 9th top scorer in your first season in a new league on a team that isnt doing great is no where close to the failure it is often viewed as.

Any idea anyone about what Stevie is referring to with the run in to last year’s title?

About the stuff that he says is private and is just between him and the club?

hehehe

Why even bother mentioning it then?? Just wondering if there was a whisper around about something undefined that nobody knows about anyway…

There was no way Ian Rush could fail when it came to goal-scoring…
He was absolutely lethal in front of goal if you compared him to others of that era…

It did seem odd - and it does set you wondering as to what way the club could have been ‘fantastic’ towards him during our run-in to the title? He makes it sound like he needed supporting in some way or like the club went out of its way to involve him or check in on him…all a bit weird.

Maybe when the club return the trophy to the PL they’re going to find that we’ve scratched out the name of Man City for 13/14 and replaced it with Liverpool, together with a handwritten note from Edwards,

“Cheers for this. We’ve amended it appropriately and have sent out winners medals to the LFC team of 13/14. We’ve got IT guys right now updating the wikipedia entries and, thankfully, we can also correct things on the City website using our ‘special’ access. Don’t ask any questions, just know that it’s been sorted. You’ve been Miked. Haha”

The only thing I can think of that makes sense is that they reached out to him to see if he was interested in participating in some sort of celebration ceremony.

Never knew Caulker went through all that shit. Fair play to him to carve out a career in football even if it’s in Turkey:

Fucking Danny Ings man. Poor bastard.

What happened to him?

Fucked himself again. I’m not sure whether it’s his ankle or knee, but got his leg caught under him when going down and definitely did one of them.

Ah crap. That is a shame, dammit.

After having scored a superb goal that at the time looked unimportant but after villa’s late 3 goals ended up being the winner. Southampton now up to third, but unlikely to stay there if Ings is out for a while, as it looks.

Poor guy.

Former Liverpool and Rangers full-back Jon Flanagan is set to pen a one-year contract with Belgian League leaders Charleroi, James Pearce can reveal.

Stupid stuff. If he just has a look from behind and doesn’t say anything to the ref, I wouldn’t give him a yellow card.

Surely the ‘most Luis thing ever’ is scoring a hat trick vs Norwich?

Ings will need to have knee surgery afterall. Around 6 weeks out.
