He scored 7 league goals, which looks like a massive failure compared to today, and compared to his 30 with us a couple of seasons before. But the reality is at that time there was rarely more than one or 2 players who got into double figures in their first year. Being the 8th or 9th top scorer in your first season in a new league on a team that isnt doing great is no where close to the failure it is often viewed as.

After having scored a superb goal that at the time looked unimportant but after villaâs late 3 goals ended up being the winner. Southampton now up to third, but unlikely to stay there if Ings is out for a while, as it looks.
