More thinking out loud being put into words than anything elseā¦ and with admin always looking to improve the site, maybe this following point is worth a consideration, or then, maybe not.!
Hence, upon placing a like symbol at the bottom of someoneās post, it can be presumed that is was granted, and issued, because there was mutual agreement to something displayed within the content.
Now here is a thing, and I am sure this is the way the threads are set up, the like button cannot be removed, once placed, after a short period of time has passed.
Given this, if the author of the comment, decides to go back into their post for editing purposes, and re-hashes the entire thing beyond original recognitionā¦ and thus it becomes distorted beyond earlier, and mutual like-minded agreement, the ālikeā continues to be displayedā¦ but now, it remains in place, albeit by defaultā¦!
Fully aware that this little wrinkle in the forum, even if that is what it can be considered, is unlikely to stop the earth spinning on its axis, and it could be that also, posts are unable to be edited either after a period of time; so everything would remain as was anyway; but like mentioned earlier, just some quirky thinking on my partā¦! :0)

Should be relatively simple to reactivate the like button when a post is edited.
