Nah, I have hundreds running. They’re absolutely brilliant little things, takes 10 mins to get your head round the system. One does our whole house with ease including the garden. Granted there are limits on power but a good access point is 100% better than your average BT router.
Sat an equal distance from the router and Ubiquity. 6 times is the Ubiquity. My neighbours are all United fans. None of them have the knowledge to change their SSIDs
I’m currently running an Ubiquiti system, so I am well aware of what it can do. It’s powerful, but I wouldn’t say it’s entirely intuitive to the less technically inclined.
If running the setup software is beyond you, you should seriously question your life choices.
Download the latest drivers.
Uninstall the old ones and install the new ones.
There are quite a lot of good HDMI/ USB wifi dongles which should give you a work around though if that doesn’t work out.
Generally has to be with the motherboard.
may not have a great range, that little thing. I’d try to opt for a PCI-based card with a proper antenna.
I have a DWA130 which sits in a drawer
It’s worked alright for me.
depends on range you need to cover, type of building construction you’re in, etc. are the walls insulated? Concrete/rebar?
need some help…
picked up my new laptop the other day (Lenovo),
connected it to my home wifi, but the keeps dropping out!
i have tried updates and all that, reset the router a few times,
but it i keep losing internet connection.
my other devices like the firestick and mobile phone are fine.
strangely my wife laptop she got at Christmas (again Lenovo) has the same problem!
any advice?

Try Driver Booster or similar software (be careful not to install bundled software that goes with the main program). Scan the drivers and update your WiFi adapter’s driver. This thing works more often than not.
i tried updating the wifi driver, but i have the latest version apparently!
Are you connecting to the 5ghz band or the 2.4ghz band ?
i have no Idea, sorry.
5 Ghz, just found that out!
In that case , I’d recommend updating the drivers in the Lenovo laptops as they might be out of date.
Also , you can check online in the Lenovo forums if people have similar problems with your model of laptop. And there might be a fix there.
Thirdly, connect to the 2.4ghz band (most routers offer both the bands) and see whether the connectivity is better. You will have some not minor loss of speed but the wifi range in 2.4ghz is more.
If the 2.4ghz band does offer stable connection in your place , try connecting the wifi at some other place which offers a 5ghz band connection and see if the problem persists over there too.
Hopefully, you’ll have some definitive conclusions at the end of this excercise.
I wouldn’t rule out faulty latest drivers , in case there’s a chance to do a rollback , you can do that once the previous choices have been eliminated.
Did you try to upgrade the firmware of your router? Its possible your laptop is running on the latest drivers but the router is still on old software/firmware?
Also please check if your routers model is not too old.
