Looks a good keeper. Could be better with the ball at his feet though.
With Ali with his wife in Brazil, I expect he’ll play the Community Shield and perhaps could be in line to start v Bournemouth? While all the talk about ‘too much change’ is really focused on our forwards and needjng time to gel, I actually think it’s our backline that looks least prepared this preseason.
Mama; Kerkez, Virg, Ibou, Frimpong starting with Endo and Robbo on the bench?
They were raving about that save, but it felt like one that Alisson would make look easy rather than taking a spectacular dive.
Anyway, Mama has time on his side and a year or two learning from the master
Don’t think Ali needs much in order to be back in goal. Pretty sure he starts the league season.
Not sure if he will start at Bournemouth but I do think he is our number 1 and would be back for Newcastle.
I feel Georgi deputised well though.
Nice video
I think he looked solid and dependable last night considering the make shift defence in front of him.
I think our future is in safe hands.
He had a swagger of someone confident, who knew what he was doing. Sometimes, you watch a back-up goalkeeper, and they don’t look as confident, they don’t appear imposing, but this guy does. I think it’s one those unique situations where he knows he’ll be No.1 with us eventually, and he just has to show what got him the move in the first place. No thoughts about retiring, or trying to show the manager what he’s got, but an assuredness that means he can play without additional pressure.
Alisson is likely to return after November NT break. That means Mamardashvili will feature in eight games including some real big ones. Great opportunity to prove your pedigree.
A great opportunity to learn to pronounce Mamardashvili too.
It looks more complicated than it sounds or really is.

Slot hasn’t actually confirmed that news above so we will see.
Yep - all we got from Arne was;
Alisson is not part of the squad tomorrow and he won’t travel to Brazil for the national team.
On Alisson’s recovery…"That depends on how fast it goes. It’s clear he’s not going to play for Brazil. I would be surprised if he will be there for the first game after the international break.
There is only reference to this international break, not the Nov (13-18).
Anyway, we have Giorgi…I like what I’ve seen and am comfortable with him being able to step in for our holy goalie.

make a name for yourself…
Love his quick hand throws.
Had a good game and those long throw outs will be a great advantage for us especially when the team are in to them
I said in another thread that I think he has a very long way to go if he wants to replace Kelleher and then become number 1. I know it’s early days, but so far (and that’s all we can go on without a crystal ball) he has not impressed much in my opinion.
- For a giant of a man he doesn’t command his box and dominate on crosses at all, even in his own 6 yard box!
- His distribution is a bit Simon Mignolet 2.0 most of the time (but at least he can kick it over the halfway line I guess)
- Shot stopping has been pretty good when he’s made saves, but already there’s a couple that he should perhaps have done better on - the first against manure being one of them. It’s by no means a mistake but I’d like to see an LFC keeper stopping that!
Perhaps once he settles he’ll have a bit more confidence to come and claim a few crosses etc - maybe he is just trying to be solid and not make mistakes that draw attention, rather than actually be proactive and take action in certain situations, which is understandable. But the one thing from a Mignolet interview I saw was that he said Alisson’s biggest strength is (and I quote) '‘he doesn’t give a f##k’ - From day 1 he was 100% confident, and if he makes a mistake it doesn’t affect him one bit - Mamma will learn this as his understudy I’m sure.
These are just my thoughts after the first few games. Not slating the lad as he hasn’t been awful (unlike most of the team) and clearly has a huge potential and is still settling, but we are trying to win the league/other competitions and I think it’s reasonable after a few matches to appraise our new keeper as Alisson has his annual random injury!
Not impressed. Might be nerves but he’s kicking is shocking.
He hasn’t saved many shots either and doesn’t have any presence.
So far he looks like Donnarumma but plays like Mike Hooper (one for the teenagers!)
I’m 40 and I had to Google Mike Hooper! ![]()
