Good Cover Versions of a Favourite Song

George Michael cover of the Terence Trent Darby song. George’s velvet voice instantly makes this better than the original for me.

Personal favorite and, for me, a rare instance where the cover is better than the original.

Two very good covers of the above song Noo-Noo + Flobs…
Unfortunately, they can only take first and second runners-up to this version!

Very good but not for me. Pentatonix are awesome but their version is still too happy. In my mind it’s a dark song that needs a dark rendition. Having someone be a bit “poppy” while someone else is doing an R2-D2 impersonation in the background doesn’t quite wash it. (for me)

I actually liked the French version too.

I would like to hear someone do a ‘real’ heavy metal version, it could be awesome, or complete rubbish but if worked on I feel it could really have that dark texture you talk of.

One thing all our various music threads have amply demonstrated is that it is all subjective.

To me, anything by LC carries its own respect…
Having followed him for over 45yrs, IMO, he was very special.

In honor of Don Everly’s passing, here’s a famous cover of a song originally recorded by the Everly Brothers.
