Good Ebening! - The Aston SeVillaReal Thread

Still find it absolutely crazy how many people were convinced he should have been Klopp’s eventual replacement.

Hopefully he gets his next job selection right and can figure out a way to better implement a noticeable playing style, Villa all season have looked caught between stalls and is if they have absolutely no idea what they are actually supposed to be doing. I’m sure there will be a host of Championship clubs that would jump at the chance to appoint him, can’t see him being offered a chance to rebuild his reputation up again with another PL job.

If Lampard gets to survive , no reason why Gerrard can’t.

What’s the opposite of Nostradamus?

Serious question. Who would be favorites for the job if Southgate gets the sack after the World Cup?

Someone dour and uninspiring surely.

Seriously? Fuck them. Hope they get relegated now.

Was listening to the anfield wrap and they were talking Gerrard and how miserable he looks and that he should maybe be more like Carra who is living his best life right now.

I think stevie should take some time out of the game and do some punditry and just enjoy himself.

His biggest managerial mistake was being the umptenth manager who thought they could get a tune out of Coutinho. Hes on the bench nowadays after something like 0 goals or assits in 20 games.

I always thought Stevie put himself under pressure with a strict timetable, as in watching when Jurgens contract finished, and he wanted to prove himself by this time. I am of the belief he should have stayed at Anfield a little longer, but then whatever experience he got at Rangers wouldn’t have happened. Tricky for him now… Interesting to see what his next move is…

That’s a phrase that should be consigned to Room 101.

Certainly not Gerrard, if the question is in this topic.

Let’s be honest here, he’s always had a face like a slapped arse.

I don’t think I’d want to play for him.

Great player, and I’m sure personally he’s probably a decent bloke, but fuck me he’s a miserable bastard.

Don Quixote?

@Dutch

Sean Dyche is the only answer.

The glee of some Liverpool fans at this sacking is bizarre to me. Then again there has always been a section of fans who weirdly dislike him.

Think they look too much into it.

Plenty of successful managers past and present who “look” like that, I mean, more serious.

Stevie had his time in punditry, maybe he will return here and there, but I fully expect him to remain in management for a while still. That doesn’t mean jumping straight at the next offer, but I don’t think he’ll abandon his path now. He might not be a manager until he’s 70 (I think he said it’s likely to be a shorter career, especially if he sees he can’t go far), but I still expect him to continue giving a good go and see where it takes him.

What might be true, is that perhaps his idea of football and execution of work needs more evolving, especially going forward. Carra touched a little bit on it in the last MNF.

Maybe the departure of Michael Beale was a hit for his staff, although I’m not evoking the whole panic when Buvac departed. In some cases, it can be important, especially for a manager like Stevie who needs to surround himself with quality members.

I didn’t get the weird clamour for him to be our manager one day, but I do think this can be a good thing for him. Learn from it and come back stronger.

Got to admit I had hoped he’d do well at Villa but being honest and not paying a whole load of attention I’ve not seen anything that suggests he’s top drawer managerial material.

Correct me if I’m wrong but has there been anything in his tactics, style of play etc. that makes him stand out? Basically does he have a footballing philosophy / identity?
