VIlla, having sold Rogers for an obscene amount of money to Chelsea, have loaned Garnacho for the upcoming season (all very dodgy PSR stuff if you ask me), with a conditional obligation to buy.
What are the odds that Villa donât fancy Garnacho (not that good, bad attitude) and he sits there getting splinters in his arse for the season like Harvey had to - which would be fine - let him lumber Chelsea with his wages and 20 year contract.
I guess it depends on if they have a set number of games to make it permanent.
I think the issue with the Elliot deal was the number of games was relatively low (because it was meant to be a permanent transfer and allowed the deal to be finalised in a separate window for FFP reasons.
Chelsea may have been more generous in the number of games playable before any obligation kicks in - although if it is conditional there may be no set number of games (Chelsea just milking the loan money)
Chelsea are a Ponsi scheme and Villa are becoming that.
Its hard to warm to eithier.
Our club will be wise to this kind of thing now - we basically helped Villa out massively with their PSR stuff by allowing the loan to happen, and in the end Elliot wasnât sold for the fee agreed, he missed almost a full season of football, and we have a player thatâs now got one year less on his deal (lower value).
Overall, it has worked out as I like Harvey and think he is a good (homegrown) attacking player that could have a role in the post-Slot era.
As Matty says, Villa are following Chelseaâs lead. Unsurprising that they are scratching one and others backs.
The difference is also that last summer they were in the process of dealing with a fall out between Emery and Monchi. That resulted in the latter leaving the club almost as soon as the window closed and Emery seemingly taking that out on Harvey as the manifestation of that relationship having broken down.
The Garnacho move is reportedly being personally sanctioned by Emery so shouldnt have the same taint to it
Certainly wonât be too happy if the club decides to do the loan deal approach with Villa again.
Not only have we bailed them out of PSR for a season,. They left Elliot to rot for a season.
Unless we take Konso on loan for 12 months with a view to buying him, then ditch him once the rest of our C.B options are fit again
