Leicester did exploit it in the first half, they were well on top and had 3 or 4 chances to score, which they squandered. If they had gone in 3-1 up at half time, Villa could have no complaints.
I do like how hard they work under Gerrard. He seems to have infused that in them.
What were the Gerrardâs âHome Truthsâ to Villa players?
Yesterdayâs was the only game I watched after Stevie took over and it was very impressive. I still think itâs still the new manager bounce doing the mojo. I want to see where Villa ends up by new year.
They both look absolutely thrilled in that thumbnail
Thanks for posting. Listening to Gerrard speak I have to say Iâm underwhelmed by his tactical stuff. I can see that he may be a solid man manager - at least while the team is not failing - but he (perhaps deliberately but I donât think so) gives off the air of a man for whom football is quite straightforward. Might help getting the message across but I wonder what he will do when his tactics donât work and - beyond being guided by the players - his talk about wanting defenders to think less about the team but more about just defending like in the carra days didnât impress. I donât know if he will be ready to manage liverpool after Klopp.
Some interesting little tidbits in here
Text book Fat Sam / Tony Pulis football.
Small club mentality today Mr Gerrard.
As long as they take points off Chelsea and City am good.
Well they failed with Man City but an admirable result like Wolves.
Play Chelsea over Christmas
Give him some time.
Heâll need some transfers to get his vision across.
Learned from his time here and a pinch of Mourinho in 2014, he knows what irritates Anfield.
Going on his teamâs performance yesterday , I donât want him anywhere near managing us in the near or mid future.
The definition of a knee-jerk reaction.
He did what he could with the resources available to him. Would you have wanted him to be a future Liverpool manager if theyâd attacked and lost 5-0?
Give him time, heâs only had a handful of games.
Far from it mate. Iâve already said the same thing long before yesterdayâs game.
If we really want to go down the path of appointing a club legend as manager , then buyer beware.
Just look at what happened at Utd. Do we really want to be saddled with an inexperienced manager for three years out of sentimentality and misplaced loyalty ?
Ole is not inexperienced.
Heâs just plain incompetent and terribly deluded.
Sorry, but you wrote âgoing on his teamâs performance yesterdayâ.
I agree that just because you were a great player for us, doesnât mean youâll be a great manager. I remember Souness, and the Rangers connection is far from reassuring.
