Van Halen Red!
Ive been told, never held one, but these are the best of the budget range in guitars; Les Pauls supposed to be especially good.
Nice one. Just a thought, have you looked at the Yamaha Pacifica’s? They have a few models in that line now which are not the budget models that they started off with. Lots of pick up options, and a more super strat look to them.
Sorry for just posting pics of guitars - every time I see one I cant help but fall in love with them.
Well it’s your fault that I’ve started looking at Revstars again and now my keyboard is all wet.
Its ok both me and @Noo_Noo (I think) had the same disease once; we’re here to counsel you through it. Putting as far back the disappointment, when you look down at your new guitar (4mths old) and realise it wasnt the one!
They’re real nice actually; think I subconsciously have added a Reverend to my want list, my frontal lobes just dont know it yet. If they had a midi compatible one oooh heaven.
I know. I’ve been ogling one or two of those as well to be honest. Some of the designs are pushing my limits on design though. They are different, which is certainly no bad thing, it’s just that I’m going all nostalgic these days.
Ive just come out of that, have 2 Strats, a Tele and a LP, all keepers. Its an indispensible stage. Which is why Im thinking Parker Fly but they are so rare, the Midi one, and expensive, so Reverend might be an option. I like them all really, think this brand is going to just get stronger - and ive not even held one! LOL
See, my problem is I’ve also never owned a Strat or a Tele either and that honestly bugs me. So many people use them, they are so iconic and yet how can I say I’ve completed my journey for my sound and style if I’ve never tried one?
The odd thing is I’m also a little bit this way with cars and stuff. For me, I often like old things, old classics. I despise some modern design which is geared towards consumerism.
I dont. That’s perfect for hooking your little finger round and rolling it as you play a note. Volume swells rock…just not in thrash.
I agree, and you’re certainly erring to the right corner with a Tele, I find it far more versatile. I rarely play my strats for the clean tone, always processed; they do chime well and bounce between the strings on chords, but I dont like that classic Strat scooped middle, so replaced the PUPS on one with more mid balance. The other is a 96 anniversary, USA, but I think the PUPS are upgraded on it to suit the grunge fashion of the time.Tele’s though, I was well surprised, the bridge PUP is rough as you like with this treble emphasis, its my favourite dirty tone!
You’re not alone in thinking that on a Tele, it’s just my ears seem to drift more towards the smoother tones of an overdriven Strat rather than the coarse tones that are easily attained with the Tele. But nothing cuts like a Tele and that simplicity cannot be beaten. I suspect f I went that way it would be one of the different models like a custom or deluxe to get those rounder pickup tones.
You might like this. Good entertainment at the very least.
Yep thanks will take a view later; I love That Pedal Show, taught me more than anything I can think of; especially that one on Balancing Dynamics.
They’re good fun to be fair and I need to go through their back catalogue I think.
I’ve been watching a lot of Chris Buck lately and he talks with these guys on his pedal gear. If there is a tone I’d want to emulate his is pretty damn close to it. Honestly, a fantastic talent. Quite unique, he even has Paul Davids in knots sometimes.
Davids is my favourite online tutor; teaches the craft rather than what you would expect, shows you the unusual side of the fretboard. When I feel particularly masochistic I visit Pebber Brown, boy the man is brutal.
That Pedal Show is a complete institution now; dunno how long it will last, how long can you keep doing guitar videos…forever they said. Mick is also a really tasty player.
Chris isn’t tutor, just a player that talks about guitars, playing, tones etc.
For tuition I do like Active Melody. That has a lovely Blues slant to it. He does some country which is not my thing but there is this focus on being able to play something off the top of your head or jam. I find that really appealing.
