Guitars, Guitars and more toys that go with Guitars

True. The Wizard neck is flat and very comfortable. I used to have a Japanese made RG570 which served me well for many years

Japanese Ibanez’s are the best ones

They are extremely popular guitars in my countries - yet somehow I’ve never played one, I’ve never even seen one live. I genuinely don’t know why, I think it’s because people I know prefer single cuts over Superstrats. I’m a sucker for LP and Explorer shapes, though.

I’m mostly a superstrat guy but this one…damn!

That shape reminds me of Chuck Schuldiner, so I obviously love it! Not a fan of seven-stringers, though, I can’t play even the six-string one!

Trust me, not that difficult. You gotta just jump into it. Got into 7s because of Petrucci (Dream Theater). Also allows you to play down tuned songs without tuning down

@Walshy07 what kind of solos are you going for?

I think that he and Loomis are probably the only guitar players I listen to that use seven string guitars. Maybe that’s the reason why I think these guitars are difficult to play, haha!

I’ll stick to six string LTDs and Schecters, though. That Snakebyte keeps calling me…

Im currently getting all the pentatonic scales down so I know them off by heart and play them quicky. Im pretty much there so soon will just start with basic (rock/metal) solos then go to moderate.
Its just remembering the poxy things. So many notes - luckily a lot repeat with solos

so yesterday i learnt the intro/small solo to Bon Jovi’s you give love a bad name plus the riff that leads up to the opening line of lyrics.

i can play the pentatonic scales and i can see them when i look down i just have trouble seeing them when moving all over the fret board if you know what i mean. i guess it will come eventually.

Find some warmup exercises that move up the fretboard from the headstock to the bridge. There are many based on scales. Doesn’t just have to be the pentatonic scale.

so…

there was one of these on ebay last week but the bloke has put an awful dragon sticker on it. I messaged him and he said its easy to take off. He is selling about 5 guitars as he has bought too many and cost of living has caught up with him.
its barely used and immaculate.
Bearing in mind these are £1249 new. I won it at £680.
As soon as it arrives Ill take it to my Gutiar dude to take sticker off and give it a decent set up.
Picture of guitar with sticker below…what was he thinking!

Woof! Nice one, mate, and I’m tapping you up to haggle for my next guitar! :joy: How long will it take to arrive?

Ugh, that sticker is an abomination on that guitar!

I bought my Schecter dirt cheap because the owner drilled two small holes to mount a Roland GK3 pickup on it. I took it to a luthier and he took such good care of it that it’s not noticeable anymore. I’d definitely prefer a sticker over drilling but anything that can help drive the price down…

As soon as I saw the sticker I thought I have a chance here.
As I said these are £1249 - £1279 new but I knew the sticker devalued it - when he messasged me he said he had also bought the Nebula Green version and put a sticker on that as well!
He sold it to a shop on ebay called Sell us your Guitar and they took the sticker off and are selling it for £920.00 now. As per below. He said they didnt pay a lot but originally had it up for a grand.
I thought, thatll be the sticker thats cost you a good price mate!

With mine I stuck a max of £701 in and left it - It ran out just after City game so I forgot about it as pissed off.

I sold an old Fender amp I never use and part of the profit went into an FGN SG style guitar I got for a ridiculously low price. Model is discontinued, DC10, in red. Plays like butter, like all FGN products.
Quite enjoying riffing on it when the Mrs is asleep, relaxes me atm. Already came up with some brutal new riffs, looking forward to torturing our guitar player with that, once we get back to practicing. Poor fucker will struggle, but he will learn. :japanese_ogre:

Congrats, mate! I can only imagine how it sounds… There actually is an official dealer for FGN guitars here in Belgrade and their guitars make me even more embarrassed by my lack of skill than usual. Just an amazing build quality and sound.

What kind of music are you writing these days? I presume you switch back to bass guitar when you’re playing with your band?

By the way, I don’t know if www.ebay-kleinanzeigen.de is a reliable website but I visit it from time to time just to see what is the latest cool guitar that someone in Germany is willing to part from, and usually for a price well below its value. Yes, they’re usually ESP guitars because I’m a metalhead sucker but just look at those Eclipses…

Yeah, it sounds great. Some previous owner put a Suhr Thornbucker in the bridge, the original pickup came with it so I might replace it, but so far I’m pretty happy and might leave it like that.
Actually really like how the two pickups sound together in the middle position, neck volume rolled slightly back, bridge tone rolled slightly back. Getting a nice mixture of clarity, definition and fatass growl like that.

Yeah, I switch back to bass when playing with the band.
This new guitar makes me want to play breakneck-fast riff stuff, still heavy, weird and groovy though. It’s what I personally enjoy most about new instruments, if they make you come up with new, different stuff. Just a different feel than my LP style guitars. I’ve tuned in to D standard, I think it works well with that particular guitar.

ebay kleinanzeigen is reliable in general, I’ve bought and sold via that site, though only in person (not via mail - I’d use the regular ebay for that).
