Harvey ELLIOTT: 2020/21 (on loan at Blackburn Rovers)

Harvey has reached a point where he needs to play regularly, but at a higher level than Blackburn, to keep developing. On the other hand, the constant guidance of Klopp is also essential for his development.

Been injury free so far :muscle:.

I would like to see him go on another loan deal next season. But at a higher level, a promotion candidate perhaps.

I should imagine there will be plenty of Premier League teams interested in taking him on loan next season.

Guess you are right but I don’t want to see him at a bus parking team from fat Sam for instance.

Yes I agree, and that will be a valuable learning experience for him. But I think he will not be playing too much for a PL team. So it’s kinda quality vs. quantity conundrum.

Disagree. I think he’ll be the first attacking name on the sheet for most teams in the lower half of the table. And they won’t be able to field him when they come to park the bus at Anfield anyway.

@Dutch - one would expect Jürgen et al to choose the right move for him.

We often have (too) big hopes when a kid does well out on loan.

I don’t know, PL is a pretty big leap from Championship. He can get minutes for teams like Southampton, Brighton etc.

Yeah, that’s why I want him to play regularly at a higher level/with a more ambitious team.

Think this kid is gonna have a big future ahead of him. We could have done with him this year if truth be told

I would hope we’d be looking at keeping him next season. I understand that sending him on loan this year only happened because the deal for Shaq collapsed.

It’s a tough balancing act with Elliot, and will largely depend on where we are squad wise going into the 21/22 season before knowing what’s best for his development. Qualification for the Champions League will also have an impact (on transfers in and out).

I would love him here next season, making an impact.

If we keep our front 4 in tact and shift Origi on, I’d like him being in the squad, however my preference is that we bring in a proper No.9 to replace Div - which could change the dynamic entirely.

All down to where he could get regular game time. Would love for him to get a season at a club like Leeds (provided Bielsa stays on) and get some regular minutes there although suspect that’s unlikely. Another season at Blackburn would probably do no harm either

Either way - he’s proving he can cut it at a decent sized club in the Championship, no easy league, and looks like he has all the tools to be successful at Liverpool.

Would love a lineup like

Mo-New Signing-Sadio
Harvey-Bobby-Jota

Think we should keep Harvey but if Taki and co stay. Maybe give him a loan to a decent attacking side, no point of loaning him to a shite premier league side where he is sitting back defending, instead of developing his attacking game that suits us.

A loan to a Swansea city would be good.

Attacking - footballing side in the championship.

I’d rather him there than at somebody like Southampton where his game time would be limited and he is defending all game

Exactly, better for him to have another good season in the championship battling for promotion or the league rather than turn into some sort of defensive winger at a team like Burnley or Southampton. Plus he would be getting taken off more in place for a more senior, ā€˜stronger’ defensively winger rather than improving attacking wise which is what’s needed more to be successful at Liverpool.

Sell Shaqiri, buy Buendia, lend Norwich Elliott for the season. Job done.

Norwich is exactly the type of team he shouldn’t go to.

I’d rather him at a Norwich this year… than a Norwich next year

Why? They play attacking football, he needs to be tested in the Premier League and he can help take points off our rivals. Another season in the Championship will be a season wasted.

I take your point but if he is going to be in the premier league it needs to be at a team where there is chance of survival - a Leeds or a villa
