To avoid any misunderstanding

Involed in team training today, along with Gomez and a number of the u21s. Danns was in the building too, albeit wasnt in the on the pitch pics.

On Eliiot, this is good news. Need his legs and versatility available, particualry for covering Mo given Chiesa has taken over Arthurā€™s spot at the club.

Iā€™m confused, is this not Danns?

Very worried I might have him confused with someone elseā€¦

We know youā€™re capable of that Harvey, youā€™re supposed to practise on things that need workā€¦like everything elseā€¦

No Iā€™m kidding, welcome back junior.

Is it too much to wish for him to finally have some luck with injuries and fitness in general, so that he can actually stake a claim to play regularly for the club he loves so much?

Heā€™s only really had the recent one and Struijkā€™s poor judgement in his entire pro career, no?

Heā€™s coming off seasons with 46 and 54 games. Some injuries he had were really at a bad time for him, like the one in early 21/22, when he was starting some games and playing really well. But itā€™s not like he missed a lot of football in the last few years.

Plus, we see he was focusing a lot on his gym work and finishing, looking up to Salah, etc. But if he and the coaching staff altogether see him more as a midfielder, then he cannot forget the more footballing aspects. Donā€™t run away from your natural skills to become this little bulky, not very fast, but energetic player. There needs to be more in order to earn more, simple.

Itā€™s absolutely fine that he realizes to play in this team, you have to also press, defend, play with intensity. Like Jones went through that process. But be careful not go to too much down the physical route.

So now itā€™s time to talk about his football and for him to earn more football by merit. How you do that? Well, by cameos like last night, making a difference. Then you earn more minutes, maybe a start around the corner, maybe a successive start (if Szobo and Jones arenā€™t in great form, because on paper, that is quality competition).

He doesnā€™t have to become our Odegaard, but thatā€™s stylistically what would probably suit him best.

Heā€™s another one of those who will soon have 2 years left on his deal.

I donā€™t believe for one second that weā€™re open to offers.

If that were to happen, for me that would be the first black mark against Hughes and Slot. Elliott is the kind of option that other clubs wish they had.

I think somewhat differently, that we have valuations for every single player, that if a club came in to meet, we would be happy to let them go for.

Just that some of them might be far higher than what a ā€œmarket priceā€ would be for the player.

On the other hand if Harvey isnā€™t going to be that option called upon all that often by Slot, then surely it makes sense to move him on and find someone Slot will call upon? An option thatā€™ll be of better use for him? With all respect to Harvey we havenā€™t found ourselves in the position weā€™re in now because heā€™s been a game changer for the last 6 months.
