Harvey Elliott (M/AM) to?

Yeah was disappointed it didn’t click for him last season - had he converted a couple of chances and got to start a consistent run of game due to form/injury etc then I think we would now be able to say more definitively if he can be a starter for us.

Now with Wirtz coming in he’s going to have to displace Dom/McAllister/Grav. Very big ask and makes sense that he’s open to moving on. If he starts 30 games for a PL club (doesn’t look like that could happen with us, unfortunately) and consistently plays like he looks like he could then I’d back him to make the England WC squad.

This lad is 22. Where does all that impatience coming from? He has still time to develop with us. I hope he stays, he’s quality.

Feel for Harvey as he is at his dream club and any other club he can go to is a major step down.
If I were him id go abroad. He shouldn’t be playing for West Ham or Wolves.
I think if Brighton or Newcastle were to come in for him that would be a good move in England. He isnt going Arsenal, City or Chelsea as they dont need him and after Brighton and Toon everything else probably seems a bit shit.

Football careers are short-lived, and that can be even without major injuries.

Harvey is close to entering his “prime years”, and he wants to be a featured player in the right set-up. He’s unlikely to get that here at Liverpool because so many world class players are ahead of him in the pecking order.

He wants to play for England in World Cups and Euros, so he wants to be playing a lot of minutes in the PL, so you can understand why he feels a move away is best.

As much as I love Harvey, I can’t blame him for considering a move if we are trying to sell him and if he’d get as little or less playing time as he did last season.

He is at a stage where he’s likely only going to develop further by playing regularly. There is a big difference between saying he isn’t good enough so we should get rid vs he probably needs to move on for his own benefit, but they amount to the same thing.

I would love it if Slot gave him enough encouragement to stay, but my money is now on him leaving. I’ve said before I think West Ham is a bad move for him given I don’t hold out much hope for Potter’s future there and he should not go somewhere where there’ll be a new manager before the season’s done. I think he’d likely do better somewhere like Brighton or even Palace, but they feel like too big a step down so it will probably be somewhere like West Ham.

I think the signings we have made close the door on him, I’ve never felt his best position was in Salah’s place, probably where Dom has played but now you have Wirtz at 22.

I would like to see a deal with the same attachments as Quansah had but we will see.

I think he’ll do well at Villa. Understand villa have had those financial troubles but Emery is a good coach and he can develop him further.

Villa already have Rodgers and Ramsay.

Harvey’s comments reinforces what a great club-man he is. I havent nothing but the upmost respect for the guy. Clearly someone who lives and breathes LFC. As much as I know the club and AS need to be ruthless to ensure we continue to compete, I’m really gutted for him. If he moves away, I hope he finds a club who appreciates him and where he can have a very successful career.

Harvey is great, and in an ideal world, he’d offer us quality cover. But he’s capable of being a regular starter for most of the clubs in the Premier League, in my view. If he doesn’t stay, I’ll root for him whenever he goes (as long as it isn’t against us, of course).

If he’s sold, maybe a buy-back clause would make sense in this case.

I can imagine him insisting on one.

West Ham in my family saying they think it’s all agreed for him to go there. Hope he does well, but it’s a circus of a club so I worry

I’d really be loathe to lose Elliott. I think he’s a terrific player with a terrier like attitude. He’s got a good bit of snide about him too.

Yes, people are right to say he doesn’t really fit into what looks like being our preferred system, but that’s precisely why we need to keep him.

He allows for a plan B off the bench or as an alternative tactical approach against specific teams. It makes us less predictable.

I hope he stays.

Just realised Harvey is actually older than Wirtz. He does need to leave to reach his potential. Somewhere like Brighton would be a great stepping stone

I hope he doesn’t for his sake. The last thing he needs at this point in his career is another season playing thirty minutes a month off the bench.

Like Harvey and would be sorry to see him go.
But he has some class ahead of him here so he is probably right to go to a decent club and get games he likely wont get here.
Think a buy back clause is a must though.

He’ll be an upgrade on Ramsay.

If you replace ‘I hope he stays’ by ‘I hope that he’ll be given his fair chance by Slot this season’, then it makes complete sense. The way he was ignored towards the end of last season was annoying imo.

Agree that if Slot does continue to ignore him, then he’ll be better off elsewhere. But I for one hope that the Dutchman will start putting some trust into him, as he deserves.
