Harvey Elliott (M/AM) to?

On the back of Ornstein’s report that we’ve set a price for Harvey and that he’s considering his next move, probably makes sense to have a dedicated thread to discuss it.

I expect people will have a lot of thoughts on this one :joy:

I know the move to Leverkusen went flat a while back. Maybe that can be revived.

Fulham do have a sizable sell on clause with Elliot though.

Really like the lad. Clearly a very talented player, and will develop very well with regular game time. Can understand why he wants out as he’s too good to play so rarely and he’s young enough to forge a very good career elsewhere.

Also understand our side of it. He’s not mobile enough to be the kind of winger we want, and he’s not big/physical enough to be the kind of CM we want. If we played with someone in the hole he’d have a future here, but we don’t and unfortunately that leaves him by the wayside.

Where ever he goes I’ll wish him well, and be a bit gutted that it couldn’t work out here

Sell on clause being attached probably will offfset the money that’s due to Fulham.

Like Elliot. But don’t know where he fits in

Surely Brighton?

Ornstein says that he preferably wants to play UCL.

I don’t know if Liverpool would have a higher price should a premier league team come calling. But should Serie A , Bundesliga teams come calling. 50m+ is workable.

Seems like a transfer that Newcastle would do though. But if that’s the case , it would be strengthening one of our direct rivals.

A homegrown player and a guaranteed starter shouldn’t come cheap for them.

And as far as we are concerned, we do not necessarily need to replace Elliot in a like to like transfer. Even if our h/g numbers need to be looked at with this transfer especially if Morton moves too. I note that we’ve gotten a Preston keeper(presumably to help with the homegrown quota). McConnell probably gets more of a chance as a back up pivot.

Especially when they are quoting 150m for Isak. We shouldn’t sell to SandCastle if we don’t get a reduced price for Isak or we are gettign an extra premium - say 60m for Harvey.

When we were buying Wirtz there’s were rumours they wanted Elliott involved in the deal in some way. We know they’ve got cash because we’ve given them a shit ton. He’d do really well over there

It was stated he didn’t want to go to Germany.

Really don’t care about any potential Isak move.

We just shouldn’t be strengthening our rivals. But if Liverpool get 65m GBP from Newcastle (considering its a 20% cut gone straight away to Fulham). That’s workable.

Otherwise sell with a buy in clause overseas. Even if it’s at a lesser price.

40m pounds plus add-ons is a reasonable ask for Elliott. He still has a decent ceiling on his abilities that he hasn’t reached yet. But it’s clear he’s not going to get a lot of playing time with Wirtz having joined Liverpool.

I wish Elliott well in his next club, but I don’t think it makes sense for him to stay here. We can also use the money from selling him to help pay for another position of need.
