Someone did just that and posted on Reddit.
(Edit: I just saw a followup post from the link you provided too.)

Well, someone did say that only 2/3 out of liberte, egalite, fraternite is realistically possible so… to sacrifice 1 of it for Ekitike is fair.

Torres was also adept with his left foot, which made defenders very hard to stop him. While both Torres and Ekitike seem to be capable of nimble footwork, the latter is more willing to use this to get out of tight spaces. For now, it looks like Ekitike is less injury prone too (fingers crossed!)

Potentially. I think he also needs to work more on his heading. Fernando was better at that than he was credited with. Also hopefully he doesn’t develop the Fernando petulance…

But really its the possibility of Wirtz with an entire team on his wavelength that really excites…

Let’s just wait when Isak gets back and we start with Ekitike and Isak upfront with Wirtz running the show.

I think it’s more his judgement on heading, he did a cracking clearance with his head on a corner and has headed a decent one and then had the one on Wednesday.

While Hugo also reminds me of Torres his partnership with Flo reminds me more of Sturridge/Coutinho.

Don’t forget to take your pills boys! :winking_face_with_tongue:

Wow I just jumped on TAN after golfing all day to think I would be first to state that Hugo reminds me of Torres!!

Seems I am a bit late. Great minds.

Top top player.

It was ringing round the ground for most of the game last night. It’s perfect in it’s simplicity

I see the stylistic comparisons to Torres, I also see the differences.

Not sure I’d be declaring that he is going to be better than Torres just yet. As well as Ekitike is playing he isn’t playing as well as Torres did in his first season. I think we forget how good Torres was, he knocked in 30 league/CL goals in his first season. Ekitike is on 12 for comparison.

So far, so good though. That was an excellent performance last night.

Despite Torres and Ekitike joining us at the same age, Torres had much more experience, he was at Alt.madrid since he was 19 years old? While Ekitike’s career is very disrupted, he only had 2-3 full seasons and we could see him struggling to keep intensity for a full match. But I think Ekitike could even reach a higher level than Torres, his all-round game is better imo.

Maybe, maybe not.

Just saying, as of yet, Ekitike has not been better than Torres. I’m old enough to remember Torres well. Torres was banging in loads of important goals and dominating the penalty area in way that Ekitike isn’t.

We don’t need to warp these things to big up Ekitike, he’s a fantastic player.

Torres was more handsome, way more Spanish and way less tanned. I personally don’t see any valid comparisons.

They both put on a red shirt and kick a spherical ball :soccer_ball:. They also score goals.
Does this help?

If we’re going to persist in these comparisons with Torres, let’s hope he doesn’t decide to fuck off to Chelsea in a few years.

I find it annoying when people compare players to other players from the past. It rarely applies well. As you say, Ekitike is Ekitike, even if there are some shades from the former Torres in his game, but he’s still young. This kind of mindless comparisons don’t help him to grow towards the player he has the potential to become.
