Hugo EKITIKE: 2025/26

Like his goal against Bournemouth was good for two things, the willingness to drive on and create it and the composure to finish it.

Honestly what has impressed me the most about him early days (and there are a lot including a beautiful first touch and playing with his head up and awareness of where his teammates are) is his strength and willingness to be physical with CBs.

For a lanky guy with a slender looking build he’s shouldered a few defenders off the ball and kept control. That’s something I didn’t expect to see from him at all

His play against Bournemouth reminded me so much of Fernando Torres.

I mentioned it during the game. For a player renowned for his ability to get on the ball in space I was really surprised by the way he chased balls down and physically challenged the CBs for it. But then with his blonde tips and even his running gate, him chasing a ball into the corner and dropping his shoulder in the defender wasnt just reminiscent of torres but actually looked like him

3 in 3 which is the first player since Dean Sturridge. One day his goal will actually be the winner :joy:

Genuinely think he can score from none easy positions is kind of the opposite of Nunez, not sure he can head but he was an unlucky bounce away from probably having a second last night.

You have to remember when comparing his start to Nunez is that Nunez missed several, I remember Hugo missing one and then two with his head but generally he seems to be able to create and score. Early doors but is a really exciting prospect.

Curtis thinking he is Anatoly…
