I’ll have a bitter please...It’s the Everton thread

Apparently Usminov has already paid £30 million, for the naming rights of the new stadium and he isn’t getting that back. Also, isn’t Moshiri on the board of USM? So Everton, in that case, are surely still commercially involved with Russian business and the money will continue to flow through Moshiri.

Got to admit I don’t understand their ownership set up but to my mind any Russian links need to halted, seized whatever.

This isn’t me hating on Everton, moreover doing the right thing and squeezing those that have created and supported Putin. If we were in that boat I’d have no opposition to calling for and accepting the same thing.

Moshiri has been Usmanov’s right hand man well before they took over Everton. So thete is definitely a link there but not sure the government will do anything.

And there lies the problem. So frustrating. Up to their eyeballs in it.

I’ve always been pretty cynical regarding Usminov’s involvement behind the scenes with Everton and for a long time, suspected Moshiri was just a front man for him. I could be wrong of course and you’re right, it’s about doing the right thing now. On the surface, Everton appear to be doing that but I’m still suspicious.

Problem is if these people seek out haven here in the UK it’s not going play well with others, the government will have to act but it’s trying to buy time.

It might be what finally removes the scales from some eyes, they will always pull 30-35% but if no more it might finish them.

A government can only take so much and it’s been battered since the Paterson debacle and it’s all of their own making bar perhaps this rise in gas and oil.

Sorry I keep going off on a tangent, back to the topic their ownership is in deep trouble.

Moshiri is a british national i think though.

He either needs to sever his ties with Usmanov fully or he needs to cut his ties with Everton.

Either way, Everton are fecked.

Yup they will probably require fire sales in the summer if they go down I’d bet on them staying for a while. They won’t go bankrupt as relatively they have more clout than others like Bury but staying up this season might just be a sticking plaster.

I’ve started think that it might be better if they stay up. Keep them thinking that they’re just a few signings away from competing. Slightly worried relegation is exactly the slap in the face they need.

Before the spotlight on Oligarchs I would have said the same but I think a relegation cripples them at this moment in time.

Effectively they were banking on the stadium coming along

I think it’s a bit of an open secret that Moshiri is a front man for Usmanov. They were partners that held shares in Arsenal, Moshiri sold his shares to Usmanov to buy Everton and then Usmanov sold the lot to Kronke and then started sponsoring Everton in various ways. But Moshiri has worked for Usmanov for many many years prior to the Everton deal so it seems odd that all of a sudden he’d move out on his own and Usmanov would float around in the background unless there was something else to it.

It may in part be just a way to get round FFP and other ownership regulations. Usmanov’s name isn’t on anything at Everton but he hosts potential managers on his yacht and just so happened to be on a call with Moshiri at the same time they interviewed Lampard even though they say he wasn’t involved in their conversation.

Legally they might be seen as separate entities and Usmanov just happens to be someone who is willing to pay to sponsor his former employees new club. Behind the scenes, it’s hard to think of someone like Usmanov being happy to play along and bankroll his former employees new play thing.

As for Everton, well they appear to be doing the right thing in severing the ties with USM businesses but im betting they’ve been paid or will have those deals paid up and the money in the bank. What this means for the new stadium and the immediate finances, who knows. The summer will probably tell us who the real money man was. If they’re cashing in on players or the stadium work stops then it’ll be pretty clear where the money was coming from.

Did think this previously but fuck it.

I want them relegated.

Their whole bitter persona and how they were with VVD and Thiago I couldn’t give a fuck.

A year or 2 in the championship just so they know their fucking place would suit me down to the ground.

Also if Lampard can take them down even better

Someone else mentioned it a little while back, but the derby brings no enjoyment at all these days. That is really sad for someone for whom a formative football memory is the build up to the 86 cup final and all the camaraderie and banter around that. The feeling was a gut thing until last season when the idea solidified. We would be better off without them in the league. We drop more points against them then other sides do, and even when we dont it takes more out of us/from us than beating them costs other teams.

The only joy them staying in the PL brings is that they are utterly woeful and likely will continue to be so.

I don’t think they’ll go down. They always seem to wriggle out of trouble, at least once on the last day of the season since Sly invented football, if memory serves. I hope they get relegated but I’m not building up hopes. They have games in hand also. Depressing.

From the outside (as in not being a liverpool city resident) , i hope they go down…its exactly the slap in the face that toxic shits of a fanbase deserve.

The thing is that despite the increasingly bad results , rafa would have kept them up if he had been backed in the winter window.

Frank has no experience in managing a relegation fight and the one season he did well in derby in the championship ( while he did well results wise , his spend nearly doomed the club to non existence ). Only need to look at how the club has spent in this window (their defense is the major problem and they got VDB and Dele Alli )

Fwank should and will take everton down imo.

Well I for one am shocked to see that bringing in Frank Lampard, Delle Alli and the lad that couldn’t get a game in the worst United midfield in my lifetime hasn’t turned their fortunes around.

Mathematically they’re now unable to catch us and it’s still only the first week in March. Make no mistake, if they do survive the likes of Calvert Lewin, Richarlison and anyone else with an ounce of talent will be trying to get out in the summer.

Add to that the precarious FFP position (as I understand they’re likely falling outside permitted losses for the the latest three year period) and the loss of Uncle Usmanov’s murky sponsorship deals and they are bang in trouble.
