Tactics are just breath mints to Frank Lampard.
They are not very good at football, are they?
I don’t really fault Lampard, the foundations are rotten. But he is now not the type of manager to have in charge. They really could be in a death spiral now. With looming financial issues, their better players are going to be mentally checking out now, not digging deep to avoid relegation. If they don’t get a win in the next 2-3 games, I think the pressure will overwhelm them.
The foundations are awful but Lampard is also an absolutely abysmal manager. His tenure at Derby had him hailed as a future England manager (like that’s a high bar) but it should have been seen as failure. He took the best squad in the Championship, spending far more than anyone else and was eliminated in the first playoff game whilst having a meltdown about a guy looking over a bush. Chelsea exposed his limitations. Zero tactical awareness, no overall strategy, no man management skills, massive Tory.
The squad should be nowhere near the relegation zone, even if their team is nowhere as good as previous years.
My question is when did Everton become so generic? There’s no style, no character, no feature to their play. They are just eleven guys wearing the same shirt.
The clocks hadn’t gone back by the time we reached 22 points.
I’m struggling to see more than 7 points and that’s being generous.
They are awful and down there in the trenches isn’t somewhere Lampard has been before.
My gut tells me they survive based purely on someone like Brentford plummeting. Norwich are as good as gone, Watford could well be too which leaves one spot. If that was a straight fight between Dyche’s Burnley and Lampard’s Everton then who knows. Maybe, just maybe…
Looking at me being generous with 7 points It means Brentford only need a win, i think they have that in them, who knows with Leeds though they looked better on Saturday.
Hopefully Burnley can at least start to pick up again.
Everton are going down.
Fingers crossed.
Up The Toffees!!!
I say it more in disbelief than anything. They’ve spent so much money but every signing has made them steadily worse. The appointment of Frank Lampard is going to go down as one of the worst in Premier League history.
I genuinely think they may not get another point this season.
Since their draw with Chelsea on 16/12, Everton have taken 3pts from 9 games. All of them were in the 3-0 win over Leeds, losing the other eight including a defeat to relegation rivals Norwich.
They’ve conceded 18 goals and scored 7 (again, three of them in the win over Leeds).
They haven’t scored in the last three games but that’s hardly surprising given that they have had just four shots on target in those three games combined.
They’re going to get relegated.
I do think that if they survive, it is merely because there is so much competition for crap team status. But this Everton side could lose to anyone now, and it will only get worse.
My basic sense is that they need to pick up at least one win over these next two games at Goodison. After that, I don’t they have much of a chance of points until May 15 at Brentford, at which point Goodison will be absolutely toxic.
Laughing at Everton feels like punching down and I feel a bit guilty about it.
Wasn’t aware they were that bad.
It’s really the luck of when they meet teams now, met this Wolves team a month ago they’d have no chance.
This could well end up being the season with the greatest points difference between two teams from the same city in the same division ever in world football. I’ll do some research.
50 points two seasons ago looks easily beatable It could easily be 60-65 by the end
Barcelona ended up 56 points above Espanyol in 2012/13. That’s just 15 points away, with 13 Everton games to go and 11 for LFC.
I personally think they are fucked
Beautiful
Perusing the Everton forums and most have resigned themselves to relegation.
Seen a few posts that at least they didn’t lose to us 5-0. Even staring down relegation and digging deeper holes they are still thinking about us.
