The Liverpool side of my family are all Blueshite so I can vouch for the fact that there are plenty of decent Blues out there. Being an Everton fan right now must be a totally miserable experience.
Their current situation reminds me of us in 2010 under Hodgson. Terrible team, terrible manager and financial catastrophe hanging over us. Also a possibility of being relegated. I always felt there was genuine cause for hope then. That Hodgson was temporary and the club was too good an opportunity not to be bought by someone who wouldn’t just drive it into the ground. I would have less hope now if I was an Everton fan. Their decline seems terminal to me. I think they will go down and if they do it will be years before they recover.
It’s difficult to see who would be interested in taking over Everton at this time given their finances and dated infrastructure. Then you would have to hope the new owners had some clue as to how to run the club.
I have a feeling that was a Phyrric victory. In the campaign the winning of a battle for short term gain with our game against them hurting them all the more.
One the other hand, I took the kids on the stadium tour today and tried to park at Stanley Car Park, as per the clubs directions. The steward there told we’d be fine to park at Anfield, directed us there and saved me a tenner. They’re not all cunts.
I think many of us are in the same boat. Someone on another site said it is far more nuanced than we realise and I think that is absolutely spot-on.
I fucking despise them. Genuinely despise them. I want them gone, never to come back. I wouldn’t miss a single thing about them. My life would be far more enjoyable, far simpler if I didn’t have to share a city with Evertonians, if I didn’t have to endure derby matches, if I didn’t have to deal with the absolute fucking nonsense they subject us to.
And yet…my Mrs is a ST holder with them. She has her moments but on the whole she’s a ‘good blue’. Wants what’s best for them rather than what might damage us. And that is why a tiny, tiny part of me would feel bad if they went. Make no mistake, if I had the choice they’d be gone in a heartbeat but it’s there, nagging away at me, knowing the devastation she’d feel.
Anyway, before today I felt Watford could be the one’s to relegate them but losing 3-0 at home to an awful Leeds team has put paid to that. Imagine thinking a team managed by Roy fucking Hodgson could be the difference! I also thought Burnley were as good as down but now I know they are the only hope if the turd that is Everton is to be finally flushed. If they beat Norwich tomorrow it’s game on, if they drop points I think I’ll finally have to accept it’s not happening, at least not this season.
One thing nagging away at me after today is the derby. If results go against us over the next couple of weeks it could have a really detrimental effect on us going into that game. If we look unlikely to catch the oil cheats and have a CL semi-final straight after it JK might play a weakened team. If Everton beat Leicester they might have daylight between themselves and the bottom 3 and might approach the derby in a completely different mindset. I wanted them to turn up shitting bricks, in the bottom 3, facing a fucking demolition but if they feel they’re going to be safe I wouldn’t be surprised if they saw it as another chance to derail our season with their usual thuggery and shithousery. We need to go into that game with everything to play for and them still staring into the abyss.
This is shaping up to be Everton’s weekend - they beat Man United yesterday, Burnley are now losing to Norwich and if Man City beat us, it will be the best they’ve had since they last beat us!
It’s fucking sickening how it’s panning out. Watford and Burnley both had massive opportunities to put these cunts in the bottom 3 but have blown it. Brentford 2 up against West Ham too, they’ll be safe by the time they play Everton. FML.
