I’ll have a bitter please...It’s the Everton thread

I don’t think Keane is viewed as a starter anymore to be honest. Might still push himself back in, but in an “ideal” situation, I think bringing Tarkowski and Coady means the end for some of their CB’s, or at least that they play less.

Half of those lads were shit signings who’ve been thrown on the scrapheap. It’s really a test enemy to how not to build a squad.

Godfrey is out for several months apparently due to the injury he picked up at the weekend. I think Mina is frequently injured too isnt he?

Coleman must be close to retirement too I would have thought.

Mina and Coleman aren’t winning any sprinting competitions either.

Yeah Mina seemed to be injured everytime I checked in on them.

It is mostly dross. There is probably a team that’s comfortable mid table in there but then you consider Frank’s in charge.

It’s all just lip service. The game is a fucking joke really, other than what happens on the pitch. Qatar? Do me a fucking favour.

In the Prem you are correct. But drop down into the Championship and the Footall League have actually got it set up to ensure they have some serious teeth when it comes to punishing those that break FFP rules. Look at Derby County last season - didn’t even have enough senior pros to complete their squad registration, so had to register a number of youth players even though they were not old enough to need it.

Bury were put out of business due to failure to comply with FFP (although HMRC also added to that from memory), but that all started with breaking FFP rules and their subsequent punishments just kept piling up ontop of each other.

The fact that Coady can’t really play in a centre back pairing and Everton just picked him up is absolutely no guarantee that Lampard is going to play a back 3. Joined-up thinking is not a hallmark of the current Everton regime.

Wouldn’t put it past Lampard to put him at RB

Target-man striker for Dele Alli to run into and fall over

Yeah if they went down and didn’t bounce back up before the parachute payments ran out they’d be in deep shit.

I’d hazard a guess they might not even cover the hole in the finances. You are not telling me they are better off financially that Leicester, sorry but no.

Didnt he start out as a midfielder?

Probably. I’ve also just remembered I had him in my fantasy team and no way in hell am I keeping an Everton CB. I’ve also just found out my mum is winning our league so far, so I think its time for me to pack it in after 1 round of games.

Really don’t get the hate for Conor. I too have heard he is a great lad. It’s pathetic but to be expected from certain posters who continually pedal the bile.

He was a defensive midfielder in the youth sides here.

He is far too slow for that role for my liking, but he’s physical and decent on the ball.

Everton could, have and will do worse than using him there.

Turns 30 this year, his career isn’t going up anymore, I really don’t begrudge him following the opportunity to get more playing time and a chance at extending his top flight career as far as it will go.

one season?..unless he gets a move the following year

That would presumably be his hope. Even if not with Everton, demonstrate he can still offer something to someone in the PL.

In a profession where 10 years is a very good career, one more year isn’t nothing.
