Nobody’s ‘openly mocking’ the victims of Heysel.
The flag has been seen all over the place including at Anfield. It’s a dig at Evertonians who were convinced they’d have won the European Cup the next season but Steaua won it instead.
It probably needs consigning to the bin the same as the ‘rent-boys’ chant but don’t make it out to be something it isn’t.
Was a time when he would have got filled in for that.

I think I would tread lightly around this, because in this case, it’s a supporter group dedicated to the victims who are taking offence to this. How would you feel like if Hillsborough was used to point score?
It’s disgusting behaviour, and even if that idiot didn’t intend to mock the victims of the disaster, the net result is still the same. Making light of a tragedy “for the bantz” is never appropriate.
I’m not disputing the offence, it’s just seems so obscure, I would have no idea it would be a reference to a footballing disaster. I, on the other hand, have never understood the need to bring flags, colors of other teams to a game not involving them. Never understood that.
The problem is that it basically does. Anything like that belongs in the bin. It’s not as if Everton don’t have a long record of sporting ineptitude to take the piss out of if that’s what floats their boat.
