I’ll have a bitter please...It’s the Everton thread

There is something quite attractive in not having to play them for a while or ever if they were to go down.

Player safety springs to mind.

Generally, I always prefer having them in the league, I want those “derbies” every season.

That aside, there’s not much to like about them as a football club/side lately. Purely objectivelly, maybe they’re one of the next in line to get that sort of deserved wake up call around the corner.

How about Rooney as manager, a rumor the Daily Mail is reporting? On the one hand, that would make the derbies even more interesting. On the other hand, Wayne does have unfinished business in the Championship.

Relegation for the blue shite would be their death bell.

This monstrocity of a new stadium hanging around their neck going into the championship will cripple their already fucked finances which will see them having to sell off their entire squad, but in reality, without Woodward at Utd, who the fuck is stupid enought to acrtually pay any money for any of their players?

This will lead to penalties from the F/L for breach of FFP (and lets not forget FFP in the Football League is actually enforced), so they will unlikely go straight back up, which will see their finances get even more screwed, leading to further penalties which will see them sink down the leagues which will see their bitter fickle as fuck fans jump like rats on a sinking ship

They’d have to jump back up before the payments run out, that’s what did for Leeds to be honest (and I have a feeling it’s a similar environment to how they were back then), if they don’t then they will be League 1 or 2.

Well at least you can’t fault him from hiding from the facts.

Nothing will ever top this post interview he gave to the club.

He sounds more like a deluded supporter on one of those youtube fan channels than a manager, love it.

“control the game, allow a goal from a corner, allow another average goal, then a fluke goal and then another”

Everton are Brexit

Can do without two derby games per season if it means a halt to regular gbh on our players. Virgil hasn’t been the same was since the assault. Anyone can see that. Ditto Origi.

Frank the big man says he doesn’t need to seek assurances on his future, guarantee he’ll be needing to seek forgiveness instead after tonight when they get knocked out and all their small hopes once again of winning something evaporates.

Oh well, at least they can put all their resources now into staying up.

Tbf, that’s not far away from us this season :man_facepalming:

Yeah I can see where you’re coming from but I do think it’s a stretch to say you controlled the game if you concede 4 goals.

Played into a trap more like.

Everton would easily get promoted from the Championship, in all honesty. They are so much richer than everyone else.

Burnley were supposed to be in such financial chaos that they’d disappear forever - they kept most of their squad, added a few pieces and are cruising through the division. Everton would do the same.

I want good things for Liverpool, could not care less about Everton getting relegated.

Not sure comparing Burnley to Neverton is fair. Burnley had a largely Championship squad, a relatively small wage bill, a stadium that is around normal for Chapionship level.

The blueshite have a squad of ego’s that will think they are too good to be playing in the CHampionship, but are on wages that no sane club will pay to players of their level. So the chances of them keeping that squad togather is pretty slim as none of the players will have the guts to front up and play in the Championship, but aren’t good enough to get the sort of transfers that will cover the cashflow Everton need as they will likely end up having to cover players wages just to get rid of them

My brother in law is an Everton fan and currently very ill, and it’s for his sake only that I don’t want Everton to go down.

I’d be happy enough if they finish 16th, keep Lampard, give him another £80m so he can help take them to 16th again.

They need to change some of its fan base.

Not to disagree but three things

  1. players leaving as a result of being relegated

  2. fire sale of players to reduce wage bill

  3. clubs finances are as Everton would put it, “a disgrace”

Those things might add up into a battle to get promoted back up.

All of those things were also true, or expected to be true, of Burnley. Look back a year ago and there were literally conversations about whether they could even reach the end of the season without being liquidated.

They were in about as bad a condition as it’s possible to be and it just hasn’t mattered.
