I’ll have a bitter please...It’s the Everton thread

Near the Walton Lane area. It is near the school. I sort of know where you mean.

If they draw such small crowds, how do they pay for their new stadium?

Global fanbase and shirt sales  :joy:

Didn’t they have a connection with the council???

No they definitely did not have a connection with the council and Mayor Anderson has proof of that

A brown envelope is on the way to you and you will be required to delete your post when you have received the envelope which is definitely not full of used fifty pound notes.

Oh OK…I’ll let u know when the envelope arrives, and share it with everyone.

Ex mayor, who stood down because he’s currently under investigation for corruption along with a 70 yr old male from Aigburth who’s initials are DH, who is definitely not under investigation!

Whatever happened with Everton’s financial accounts last year? They were looking quite “ropey” at one point from memory until some cash came from nowhere. Pretty sure ears pricked up in UEFA over that one. Well you’d hope they would have.

Of course Covid has happened afterwards.

That’s why I said was.

It’s great stuff. It will be a millstone round their necks. That’s if it ever gets built, which I doubt. Their fans have this viewpoint at the minute that our “heads will fall off” but I can’t fucking wait for them to start building it. It’ll cripple them.

They will probably fill it for a season on novelty value. People will want to visit this wonderful state-of-the-art waterfront stadium, see what all the fuss is about. Once that novelty value has gone they will be on a slippery slope unless they are challenging for titles and cups to an extent they haven’t been able to do for the past 30-odd years.
Forget the 550 quid season tickets and other ticket concessions they have in place now. Let’s see how happy they are paying 750-800+ for a season ticket to watch mid-table dross. At a stadium with very poor access. Right now they have a massive ‘walk up’ from the surrounding areas but all that will change, anyone with a knowledge of the area will know that wont be possible anymore. At present there is only access from 2 directions unless they’re planning on shipping people in on boats. From what I’ve seen the 2 main routes their fans use to escape Goodison are the motorways and tunnels. It will be far, far harder to access these routes from a new stadium on the docks.
I can see many spewing it completely due to cost and difficulty reaching the stadium in the first place. Unless they have a team competing at the top then I reckon it just wont be worth the effort for a lot of them.
I personally can’t wait for the first spade to be in the water.

Isn’t it getting some transport support, thing is it probably be about 10 years after the stadium opens like what happened at the Manchester City Stadium.

Don’t know, maybe they can build a new tunnel direct to Rhyl or something.

What have the good people of Rhyl ever done to deserve that?

This is the point that sprang in my mind when I saw the promotional video. Being on the waterfront means they lost accessibility at least on one side.

I feel this project can become their bane just as the new stadium (project) ruined Valencia. Liverpool have a 80-90k requests for season’s ticket, yet we decided to develop Anfield instead of any costlier options.

There’s water one side and an industrial estate the other. So only really access on one major road, leading towards South Liverpool one way and North Liverpool the other. The majority will head North I’d have thought for access to motorways but it will be a slog through built up areas of the city. That’s all assuming there’s plenty of parking to begin with. If not it will be a real pain in the arse to get to for a lot of their traditional ‘walk up’ support. Don’t forget, 30000 of them live on Goodison Road itself.
