The derby day is the time when Liverpool fans give the best possible welcome to Rafa. Doesn’t change anything about the man for me although I do admit there is that slight disappointment that he did choose to go to probably the club in England with the most toxic fanbase(and that includes the manures and arsenal)

Odd seeing him with the blue scarf, but I’m not gonna be bitter about it - always a legend in my eyes, and I really hope that he receives a good welcome when back at Anfield.
Would be somewhat embarrassing for the bitters if we show more love to Rafa than they do.

I always got the feeling that Benitez often had lower quality materials to work with as compared with Ancelotti who’s skill was often about getting the most out of quality players he had available. Benitez may be better suited to a mid/lower prem team than Ancelotti.
I also think Benitez is still hungry to prove his doubters wrong, which isn’t something I sensed with Ancelotti.

If they give him the time they might end up in the EL regularly (and maybe CL qualification and a domestic cup too).
But it should be clear that many people at the club will behind his back try to get rid of him asap - no matter what he achieves. Thinking about people like Duncan etc.
Anyway, hope at least on the pitch it will be about playing football and not about injuring our players.

Interestingly, there are a few posts in the blues forums supportive of Rafa, and recognise what he might be able to do - and those posts have a lot of likes.
A small minority of angry keyboard warriors is not a true refection of their fanbase I feel.
The extent of it all will be known when he’s standing there at Goodison park with a full ground of bitters.
