Wtf is going on? Do those 2 Spanish cunts ever consider buying anyone from City, Arsenal, Chelsea etc? Just seems to be a constant theme with us now.
Itās the price of success.
Pretty sure Konate is staying (yes, with the risk of leaving on a free) and weāre bringing 1 CB in.
If we needed 2 CBās in this window, I doubt we wouldāve sold Quansah. And there would be more talk and more of the budget left for that.
We tried Huijsen, now it could be Guehi or someone else.
Gooey has the home grown factor.
Letās face it, itās pretty obvious now that Konate is playing the same game that TAA did. Heās probably perfecting his Spanish as we speak. If we can get Guehi over the line, then weāre in a stronger bargaining position. I would take a guess that during a world cup season, Konate wonāt fancy gathering splinters on his arse sitting on the bench.
Rudiger, Modric, Courtois, CR etc but you do make a fair point and your descriptive word is the right word. Even worse when a freebie.
I do wish we had the finances/money/players to make him sit on his arse getting splinters if he is playing the same game as Alexander Arnold
Iāve seen clubs do this in the local league and itās the worst thing we could possibly do. Not only it alienates the player in question, it becomes a deterrent for future signings, not to mention that it screams small-time and pettiness.
Furthermore, this attitude in the fanbase that for some reason outgoing players owe us hefty fees is both arrogant and off-putting. This isnāt Mooreās Liverpool, or even worse Hick and Gilletteās; the departure of key personnel doesnāt spell doom anymore.
If Konate wants to leave at the end of his contract like TAA, send him on his way with our best wishes. Weāll be just fine if not better.
Iām thinking that he is worth more to us on the pitch for a season than he would be as a fire sale and then having to identify a suitable centre back replacement at a reasonable fee.
Iām not saying that the club is delighted if this situation happens often in a short space of time, but they obviously have a very strict rule that they donāt want to include exit clauses in our playersā contracts and are not afraid of going into a final year, often possibly judging the worth of having them (not being forced into silly incoming deals under pressure) higher than losing them. And contracts also. When you start giving new contracts right, left and centre and having too much of a team grow old together (plus a few flops in the transfer market)⦠thereās a danger of Barcaās situation happening.
Isnāt that what we are doing with Guehi.
I was assuming that he was a Quansah replacement?
He is.
Iām not sure he would displace Konate from the get go but he will provide more options and competition. It would be easier for us to address this in a years time if he does leave on a free.
I think too many care about his aspect but if we are successful on the pitch and continue to sell those around it doesnāt much matter. Our concern has always been more to do with wages maybe this is just part of that problem with that kind of set up.
