And gave him a kiss on the cheek :broken_heart:

All those Torres comparisons and nobody has compared Ali and Konate to Reina and Ngog?

Ibou…stay!!

Don’t think many will be wanting him to leave now.

Back to something near his best. Losing him on a free certainly wouldn’t be a positive.

Give this guy a contract already

It’s more a question of whether he wants one.

Ibou, Leoni, Virg and Jack would be a good CB group. Nice blend of youth and experience.

It’s not a question about giving him or whether he wants it, but two sides finding agreement, which has been the issue.

While he’ll never reach Van Dijk’s levels of consistent imperiousness (and not many will), he puts the club in a similar position to Van Dijk last season. Contract running down, one foot out the door but the club need to extend his contract not just because of his playing qualities (which, in Konate’s case, were missing for large parts of this season) but also because it buys them more time for the long awaited defensive rebuild.

Otherwise, the team will be heading into the new season with Van Dijk in his twilight years and two kids who are coming back from sickening injuries as centre backs. And don’t get me started on Gomez’ fitness.

Ibou has cost us a few times this year whilst mostly playing well in games as Arne said, so I don’t have issues with the defensive side of his game.

My one concern is in possession, especially how we try to play out from the back, he has improved but he still lacks the variety of pass and gets isolated and trapped and is left with no easy get out pass.

The other concern could be his wage demands and that is due to the precedent set by paying Virg and Mo the wages they are on.

Ibou probably expects somewhere near what they get as he will be committing his prime playing years with us.

Mad bastard. :joy:

Was this game just a simulation?

After a few quality games, a weak one yesterday.

I thought he was decent.

Possession wise he was below par, otherwise ok defensively

It seems incredible to be saying it, but right now Konate isn’t even in the conversation with regards to where our problems lie.

Yep when Kerkez is the only player we have that manages to slow the opposition slicing through our central midfield it seems desperate to be blaming KonatƩ or Gakpo for that matter.
I’ll try again Szoboszlai was useless .

The amount of first balls he missed last night… like I said, after a few high level performances, his last few are again not convincing.

It was possibly the most chaotic individual performance I have ever seen at this level. It wasnt just a case of being beaten or making bad decisions that hurt us. It was often simple stuff like making contact with the ball while taking a big swing at it.
