Imo, if you dont play home games in Scotland, you dont represent Scotland, unless there is a special grave and serious reason for it.
But I may be more narrow minded. It just would have been seen as a national humiliation and disgrace from my Norwegian cultural point of view. We would never ever accept playing in Denmark just to make it easier for a few players. If they refuse to play in their country, they shouldnt be allowed to play imo.
I understand that this is vieved differently in actual Scotland though, which is fine but imo pathetic because I have those Norwegian glasses on after all. So of course I am centric viewing this from my own cultural pov.
Canāt disagree with that but itās not my point. It was more that it must be a blow to the ego of a traditionally strong proud football country not to be part of the WC - when many ālesserā countries participate.
And yes they certainly did not deserve it based on performances and results when it mattered.
But I will still enjoy watching the WC without Italy and despite the FIFA Trump shitshow.
Apparently some Iraqi fans en route to Monterrey by way of Dallas airport were trying to pose for a group photo with a banner in Arabic and Spanish, and some fine citizen attacked them, ripped the banner, and said something about it being in America.
My son was at a childrenās party just after the 2010 World Cup (one of those in a pub so that the parents can get 2 hours peace and a glass of proseco) and the goody bag for the kids contained a vuvuzela. I donāt know what psychopath came up with that idea. Presumably someone wanted revenge for having to put up with a bunch of sugar-hyped 6 year olds.
Probably delaying in purchasing a car or buying a house just to go and watch a football match. I paid $400 for 2 tickets just to watch a LFC exhibition match in Toronto way back when.
