The move may well work out successfully but it indicates that there are problems on the recruitment side this window as it isn’t the sort of move we generally make even when desperately in need of players.
Yeah, just because you have certain principles it doesnt mean every move you make has to follow them. But when they dont, such as buying a player 5 years outside the bracket we prioritize for forwards, it is not a sign that the principles dont exist, but that something has happened to make us decide to wave our principles.
We dont know exactly what is going on behind the scenes, but we have had a LOT more reporting on our efforts than normal and that surely means more difficulty landing the target we need.
Also worth noting that Palace Manager Pierre Sage said in a recent press conference that Ismaila Sarr is suffering through a groin injury issue, hasn’t been able to train & missed the match vs Everton.
