Regarding the one year contract offer:
Perhaps we also want him to protect the RB spot next season, along with of course being first and foremost a midfield option.

Worth keeping around for his off field contributions. Dressing room leader, role model for the younger lads. He would be ideal for the Academy. Can still play a bit obviously. It will be a sad day if he goes. You can’t easily buy-in the qualities he has.

Apparently Palace are interested. He might be tempted by a club like that where he’d get a lot more playing time than with us. Surprised not to hear stronger Leeds rumours.
Not sure he would be a good fit with Bielsa though, not meaning that as an aspersion on either Bielsa or Milner. Just that Bielsa is notoriously very intense, and really needs a high level of buy-in from his players to what he wants them to be doing, the way he wants them thinking.

So we just did a grocery run and Tony Cascarino (who I know gets pelters on here) spent a good 10mins talking about Milly and his qualities.
I could not agree more…when he finally puts his feet up he will know that he did literally everything he could to get the best out of himself. He is a warrior in every sense of the word.
I have said this before, but if my two boys grow up to be half the man Milly is, I would be a very proud father, indeed.

Even at a club where he was in the best XI he’s at an age where he’d really only be able to regularly play every second or third game.
Yeah, but eg Palace don’t have European matches and aren’t likely to go too far in the cups. He could get 30 odd starts for them, which is unlikely with us.
I can’t see much other reason for him to move tbh. At this stage it’s going to be playing time or emotional reasons.

I think he would consider Leeds, but just isn’t a good fit for Bielsa’s system at this stage of his career.

Yeah, I am sort of shocked he is there this season.
I think that link was a bit too lazy over the last years. His link with Leeds doesn’t mean they would both want and agree with each other.

Loved his leadership when he came on, telling Rudiger to f*ck off, the little mind games when we were choosing the side/who shoots first before penalties, stepping up with that solid first pen.
Our performance going forward became a bit crap when we were left with him and Elliott in midfield, Jota coming back from injury on the left, Origi centrally and a not-good-today Salah on the right.
But what a guy Millie is. Probably one of those best captains without the armband type.
