Great for James and deserved. I’m surprised though, football (and certainly Liverpool) is underrepresented when it comes to the number and level of honours (cf other more genteel sports) and when they are given its often to Engerland big heads. Glad they are finally recognising an outstanding model professional (albeit at MBE level) having previously given CBEs to the likes of Roy Hodgson and Dick Scudamore and OBEs to Beckham, Giggs, Lampard, Garth Crooks and Doug Ellis. For point of contrast, Gerrard and Henderson were the only PL era Liverpool players to have received an honour and only at the MBE level.

Houllier has an honourary OBE.
Agree though, it’s a bit farcical.
When’s his contract expiring? June 1st? Wonder will he get another year at reduced terms or is this the end
He is being offered a new one and has hinted he would be staying.

Great news, really need him around to help this next evolution of the squad… Elliot, Gordon, Jones, Carvalho, Ramsay (hopefully) etc. All need to learn the Liverpool way from James.

Glad he’s staying, a massive figure in the dressing room and someone you can depend on to do a decent job whenever called upon.
Another year and maybe Leeds come back up, and he leaves with our best wishes to finish his career there.
