Newcastle?
My initial thought was the same.
But they have tried to lowball a number of clubs with fairly poor deals, so suggests to me that they may not be so willing to throw silly money around like other clubs have been known to do when rich new owners come in. But instead are looking for low upfront deals with the extras hitting later down the road if they are successful in surviving relelgation this season/win the league/Champions League in a few years time
That would be really weird. I like the Torres deal, not so sure about Morata, but then Traore on top of that… really, Barca? They had him already, couple that with some basic analysis of his post-Barca career and they really shouldn’t do this. What are they trying to go, gather all current Spanish forwards (even if Traore isn’t so regular)? Better go for Olmo, then, and even with him I wouldn’t say he’s so necessarily needed, but would be a much more important and decisive player.
I could see the angle, he’s one of those players who might have a ceiling slightly above mid-table, might look better at a higher level. If he couples that technical ability with other aspects, used correctly, I think he can be good. I feel it might be Arsenal, since they’re looking at that sort of player lately. Though Villa’s rivals can be pretty vague. Could be Leicester (preparing post-Tielemans?) or Palace.
Pietro Pellegri from Monaco to Torino on loan.
Burnley is actually in for Wout Weghorst? Lancashire paper make it seem as he’s already at the training ground this evening for his medical. Gives them a big physical body to replace Chris Wood.
Apparently his biggest frustration now is the lack of width and pace. Currently all of his attacking players look to come inside, leaving them getting their attacking width from a 32 year old Alba, and even older Alvez, or a shit Dest. It’s notable that so far he’s used Torres wide on the right rather than through the middle. And so it looks like he’s looking for runners who can stay wide and stretch the pitch.
Yeah, maybe as a short term option on loan, while they also see what happens with the whole Dembele fiasco. They also lack width from the RB position.
One more bit on Burnley, Mislav Orsic told Burnley he needs no relegation clause in his deal, that he is fine playing there even if relegated. Don’t see that too often from players.
One holdup evidently Zagreb want him to play this weekend he wants to leave now.
Calum CHambers to Villa on 3.5 year contract. Not sure what Gerrard is thinking here
It’s a bit strange for sure.
Amad Diallo from United to Rangers on loan.
Pawel Wszolek from Union Berlin to Legia Warsaw on loan.
Paul Mukairu from Antalyaspor to Copenhagen for £1.7m.
Lebo Mothiba from Strasbourg to Troyes on loan.
Probably a cheap backup to Konsa (who was their only right footed CB, Hause had to play it against United), who is now clearly 1st choice at RCB. Mings and Hause at LCB. If they feel they need a serious upgrade somewhere down the line, maybe something changes…
Yes and no
Weakening a direct rival, at least in terms of squad depth
Cool and not cool.
