January Transfer Window 2022

What happened there? Isn’t that the highly rated kid who jumped ship from Barca last summer?

Stoke City youngster D’Margio Wright-Phillips has signed a new two-and-a-half-year deal at the club.

The 20-year-old is the son of Shaun and grandson of Arsenal legend Ian Wright.

Wright-Phillips made his debut in the Potters’ FA Cup win over Leyton Orient and kept his place for the Championship victory at Hull.

Manager Michael O’Neill said: “He is still a young player with a great deal of development ahead of him but he has really impressed myself and the coaching staff with his attitude and willingness to learn and deserves his new contract.”

Fuck, I feel very, very, old.

Yeah, he was at the head of the class that insiders were saying was comparable in talent as the group that fueled Pep’s success. Notably, none of those reviews I read, and I read several, included Gavi or Nico in them. And certainly none included Ezzalzouli, Balde, or Jutgla. It seems maybe Barca knew what they had on their hands better than the insiders did.

Who knows, might he’s still highly rated. Young player, new club, new league, new country. Leipzig had/have their own issues this season, second manager in charge, etc.

I’m not entirely sure how taking Chambers out of Arsenal weakens them though.

ESPN have had a headline for the last few days that reads “racist Vlahovic banner at Fiorentina” indicating that the ultras frustrated at the move referred to him as a gyspy. Does no one edit these things anymore? Can they not see how their intended meaning could have been conveyed with more clarity?

66 million seems insane. You can pick a local lad off the park who’d bang in 20 a season in that league.

Nah, I don’t think so. Certainly not insane. Carroll in his time coming here was much more insane than this. I didn’t see enough of Vlahovic so I’m not best to judge his current quality and ceiling (but he does look more and more convincing), but I think financially it wasn’t a huge question mark, but more where exactly he’d go and when. He’ll also be on £110k per week. Haaland will be financially probably even less of a question, but again, where he goes exactly.

Strong rumours linking Cantwell leaving on a loan to the Championship??? Firstly, why would Norwich allow him to leave on loan when they need to fight relegation? Secondly, why would Cantwell go to the Championship now? Even if no PL club wants him, he can just stay on in Norwich?

Because he’s rubbish.
