January Transfer Window 2025

Nah, for me he’s not, it’s not enough.

Slightly overrated player also because of it, I’d say. Hence why it hasn’t really worked out for him at different places since leaving Southampton (his place) and hasn’t managed to be a regular in England squads when they’ve been a bit short of central midfielders.

Initially started alright for West Ham, but they lost themselves figuring out who plays where in midfield and attack. Lost count how many different combinations they tried.

The point being that West Ham were shit even after he left.

Ward Prowse for his set pieces alone gives them a goal threat.

Brighton picking up the Greek lad, Tzimas. We were loosely linked recently, but it’s a tough one, as even if he is decent, that’s not good enough to get minutes at Liverpool. In all likelihood we will watch him grow at Brighton and then be sold for a large fee in 2-3 years :joy:

Exactly.

We aren’t really discussing pushing out anyone decent.

Looks like Morton to Boro not happening. Surely we can fetch more than 10m for him?

Sounds like the kind to have a worldie of a game so glad we won’t have to face them in the league again.

Albeit he was born in Portsmouth and played for a local youth club in Portsmouth. Bone of contention for some

Félix to Milan on loan, per Romano.

Same category as Morata. Good, not great, everyone keeps taking a punt.

I’m kind of shocked Marco Asensio is now 29

Best for him might be to actually to back to Southampton, help them go back up next season. They know how to use him (even they tried him in different positions) and tolerate this “worth only due to his set pieces” thing.

I’m shocked he’s not older lol

City spend €220m and not one of those 4 players would improve us and I doubt City either. Panic buying at its finest.

Gavin “better than Kelleher” Bazunu? What happened there?

City’s big failure, along with Iheanacho, who’s now in the Championship.

Anyone move in that whole window that you think “damn, I wish Liverpool had got him.”

I can only think of Marmoush and even then I’d rather keep Mo for another couple years.

Lots of moves but a distinct lack of quality players going anywhere this window.

Isn’t that usually the case? It’s just like how people keep expecting us to have a lot of activity and turnover, but in reality, windows like summer 2023 have been by far the exception rather than the norm since summer 2018. it leads to a puzzling state of affairs (to me) where people don’t seem to recognise that we largely do our business on a slow and steady basis, and that we’ve genuinely refreshed much of the squad since 2020 without people realising. From that title winning team, we really only have Alisson, van Dijk, Robertson, and Salah as key players who weren’t considered young players then.

Depends how much we know as fans, I for one don’t know much if anything about a lot of the ones that are moving. Doesn’t mean they’re not good.

Perhaps more and more football clubs are a bit more creative where they look for players, go a step or two earlier in getting them.

Especially since there’s room to carry a lot of players and just loaned them out, etc.

There’s always some sort of activity in January, albeit it’s not the main transfer window.

You have your usual struggling sides who are trying to do different things to give them a better chance of survival, sides with injuries, sides looking for opportunistic buys, transfers that haven’t gone through last summer or would’ve gone through next summer, etc.

Selling clubs already know more or less what kind of season they’re having, for some their European season might be over, then willing to do business now, in order to prepare their summer, etc.

A transfer window doesn’t need a Neymar from Barca to PSG calibre to be interesting, when you look a bit deeper into it (even if I wouldn’t mind if they scrapped the January transfer window).
