Salah had a very bad second half today. I feel like he’s isolated like that so many times. That’s why I think it would help if we had someone running around him to provide passing options.
Bradley looked good in the first half, but he ran out of energy quite fast. Similarly, on the opposite flank, I think adding energy and dynamism would always help. But I agree that we have better priorities elsewhere. And in the worst-case scenario, Frimpong could be useless like Chiesa.
He had lots of options to pass and rotate the ball but didn’t.
Also, thinking about Trent and Bradley they have both had their injury worries this season, is this down to having to work harder as Mo isn’t required to put in a defensive shift?
I think most of the hard work on our right side is covered by Szoboszlai. For Trent, I think he’s played non-stop for 7 years, then injuries will eventually catch up.
With Bradley, I think it’s because of his play style - he spins and accelerates a lot, but he doesn’t play often, so maybe his body isn’t easy to adapt. I feel like he could be more fit if he played more frequently. But then again, Bradley’s style requires a lot of energy, and Salah is allowed to conserve energy most of the time which makes his life harder.
UPDATE: Liverpool are advancing in talks to sign Jeremie Frimpong as right back. Liveroool have already approached Bayer Leverkusen discussing €35m release clause structure for the RB. Talks also underway on the player side with Frimpong understood to be very keen on joining Liverpool. He’s main option to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Not sure i am excited with this deal, if true, because of the concerns raised about the defensive side of his game.
What i do find interesting though is mention of structuring the deal as 35m euros doesn’t sound all that big a sum of money to pay in one go in a window we supposedly have a fair amount of cash to spend. That suggests to me more exciting signings news ahead…
