Very impressive again, MOTM by a distance.
His reading of the game for such a young lad is remarkable, sees a pass…on it in a flash to intercept and lay it off. Commanding in the air, calm and composed on the ball, positionally aware of danger. Got the looks and the (hair) style. Can’t complain.
This guy does look the business.

Definitely not true that he hasn´t put a foot wrong but he has been very good so far for a CB of his age and experience or lack thereof.
Reads the game pretty well and is good on the ball, especially moving it quickly to midfield. I noticed on a few throw in he got back into position extra quickly, perhaps after learning from the one we conceded a few games back where he got caught out on the quick throw. Another great sign of a cerebral CB.
Silky smooth again. Immaculate defender in the Jocky mould. Reads the game and can pass through the lines.
That sequence where he chased down Marmoush and just eased him off the ball rather than diving in was glorious. Proper rolls Royce defending.
That was my favourite moment too. Just way too good and he’s only 21 and not filled out yet. He’s only going to get better. Now I can’t wait to see Leoni get back in training because he looks straight from the same mould.
He’s done that with a couple of players, so strong even whilst in motion.
It reminded me of pre-injury Van Dijk.
Thinking exactly the same whilst watching him take the ball from Marmoush.

Great 2nd half from him. Early days but he is the early success of our summer window, just like his French mate, Hugo did last season. And hopefully he can continue this trajectory and one half of our CB would be settled for years to come.
That was Van Dijk’s signature move. I don’t want to place too many expectations on Jacquet because he still hasn’t played even 10 matches for Liverpool and he’s also coming back from a pretty difficult injury but… He’s making it very difficult so far. 
He’s been the biggest surprise in a positive way. I doubt anyone expected him to be this good so quickly.
Also, credit where is due, Hughes seems to have hit the jackpot with Jacquet.
We can see this path with other examples as well.
Talent and quality sometimes don’t need a lot of time to get recognized. Even if they are largely or completely unknown to the wider public (fans and media, but mostly fans).
Gvardiol was yet to make his Dinamo Zagreb debut when Bielsa wanted to take him to Leeds. That would’ve been quite a jump. He had 50 odd senior games when he eventually rejected Leeds again and went to Leipzig and then quickly to City for a big fee.
Mistakes happen on every day basis in football, but when we paid an important fee in January for Jacquet and he had other clubs interested, I thought this boy must have quality that could be immediately seen. He’s surely coming in with the hope of him winning a starting place from the get go.
Positive that it seems like he can fill in at both RCB and LCB. We’ll see what the future holds, how consistent he is, how many games he can play at this stage of his career, what’s his English and general communication like with time, etc.
Knowing where he passed his youth and that we were in for him his defensive qualities weren’t much of a surprise. His on ball skills, vision and passing have been.
A very astute addition from the looks of things so far, yes!

Have to say I have been rather impressed with this lad so far.
Seems like he’s hands-down the most successful signing of the Hughes era.
