Jeremy JACQUET: 2026/27

I don’t think the high cost ones will ever provide ample evidence that they were worth it. We will see mind. But yeah if Leoni comes back and is as good then he’s done well there.

Definitely. If Leoni is as good, we can feel a lot more comfortable about our long term CB prospects.

From his one game i thought he looked even better potentially.

Watching the highlights of the game at the weekend it seems Ibou had another howler as well, and that makes it taste all the more sweet.

Watching these highlights his passing is impressive for someone of his age the amount of line breaking passes on the floor are so beneficial to a team.

Also, for someone who looks so gangly he is so well balanced with the ball at his feet and turns out of trouble excellently.

As someone who never rated Konate and still thinks Joel Matip was easily a Top5 PL CB I’m happy we finally have another CB good enough to start games for us.

Matip was top drawer and so underrated by the media, but not us fans and Konate on his day could be excellent, but he lacked on the ball presence and at times was like Samson…when he’d had his haircut!

Opening a player thread during an international break is always an arse-clenching moment.

Just positives, has he taken Konate’s place in the French national team already?

Konate himself didn’t really have a cemented place all the time. Recently, Saliba and Upamecano were the preferred choice. Zidane is now in charge, but Saliba and Konate are both out injured, so we’ll see.

Fuck, 21 is no age

To see those passes at his age is obscene, but then to hit them, AI man, he’s a robot!

Yes he has been excellent so far.

His actual pass execution or technique is nothing extraordinary but he´s much more willing to make passes into midfield and even to players with a man on than most defenders. That makes all the difference. In fact, all CBs and midfielders should have his composure and lack of fear to pass through bodies.

Great stuff.

Well it is for us as he has the highest pass completion rate of our squad at least as far as execution goes.
Of course you could forgive VVD due to him lobbing it forward so much to players that don’t fight for the possession of the ball. It’s a choice I suppose.
So Jacquet has extraordinary choice.

A lot of that is choice of pass. For example, if i only passed back to my keeper i´d have a very high completion rate. He´s not doing that but you get the point. He is a clever passer in a squad of poor passers. He´s also a CB so you´d expect a higher pass completion than a creative player.

If you watch the footage in the video, sometimes his passes are a bit bobbly or not always crisp, but he makes the right pass almost all the time.

Jacquet is unavailable for the France match due to hamstring problems; we could well be missing three first-team players on Sunday, and then there are still a few who have to play tomorrow.

Injury or taken out as a precaution?

From what I saw its being reported as precautionary…
