Well, we definitely need to go into the market in January. That seals it. Even with Matipās return - and you canāt treat him as a longterm savior with his injury history - we need to add a quality CB.

Because Southgate is a massive fucking idiot. And Iāve said this before in these exact words: I apologize to my England brothers and sisters here because I mean absolutely no cultural disrespect, but I hope England never win anything with Southgate as manager. If it is this hes not back this season. Horrible injury a patellar tear. Its basically the ligament that goes down front of the kneecap, canāt straighten your leg if you tear it altogetherā¦ tough times for Joe, really hope itās a strain and noting popped. Poor lad

Assuming it is correct, it speaks of an attrition injury, probably due to too little rest. Maybe not Southgateās fault then, but the Premier League, itās schedule and those who harp on about 5 subs ruining the good old game. Certain people in the Daily Mail, who seems to revel in āold Schoolā and āeverything was better back in the day when you could kick someones leg off and get a yellowā-type of commentators are not helping persuading people into accepting that this season is special and that 5 subs is probably logical and prudent.
All of this is however, of course, extremely bad for us and Gomez. But what can you do when God strikes you down with lightening ? Friendly internationals should probably not be played during this ultra hectic schedule, but what can you do.
I donāt think the club has made an error, at least not a major one.

I have no issues with Lovren gone, and having 3 senior CBs + Fab.
Shit happens and I donāt think anyone can argue that our limited pot of money was well spent on Thiago and Jota.
Our youngsters playing in defence have done an excellent job. Neco, Jones, and Rhys. None of them have let us down. I donāt think any of them will. Fingers crossed this is the opportunity they get to become proper Liverpool players.

Ake just pulled up with what appears to be a hamstring injury. Players are being run literally until they drop.
I hope to God that Gomezās injury isnāt as bad as rumoured. In January 2018, Thunderās Andre Roberson in the NBA suffered a patella rupture. He was projected to return after 8 months but he had setbacks that forced him out for two years. Needless to say that with the pandemic he has yet to make a full comeback.

Transfermarkt has the 2015 injury down as a cruciate ligament injury, so not the same injury. Do we know which knee Gomez has injured this time? Thereās nothing on the Echo regarding which knee.
