Jordan HENDERSON MBE: 2020/21

Not really sure why Hendo thought he was the boy for the penalty.

Like I understand leadership etc but let somebody who is a penalty taker take then pens.

If you wanna stick your hand up for a penalty shoot out then fair play.

Also fuck off Southgate - that happened because you didn’t have a clear message of who takes the pens… who takes the pens if main penalty taker goes off etc etc

That’s the part I don’t understand. Why make this into a deal? Oh because you’re the manager of England? Who gives a shit?

I think Southgate and the media are scapegoating Jordan to gloss over the fact that we scraped a 1-0 win over Romania thanks to a penalty and a 1-0 win over mighty Austria. England are a shit side managed by a knobhead. Hendo missing a pen isn’t going to change that.

You give that squad to Klopp and he’d win a world Cup with it. Attackers like Sancho, Sterling, Kane, Grealish. Decent midfield, fullbacks, Henderson is an OK keeper. CB probably a little weak but national sides don’t tend to be perfectly balanced so sure a half decent manager could cope with that. In Alexander-Arnold, Sancho and Grealish England have some of the most creative players in the world. The side should be built around that instead of being built around maximising set pieces.

I kind of thought Southgate was better than that. I think he is showing his level

I agree! That’s why I can’t bear to watch them play - all that talent and they’re just fucking awful! With the manager they have I doubt they would finish top 5 if they were a Premiership club.

Let’s be honest England have had a world class side for about 20 years now.

They are like a no legged post man - cannot deliver

Part of the problem is that they have a manager who would struggle in the premier league. When Southgate gets sacked or leave by “mutual agreement” this summer I can’t see a premier league club racing to sign him.

May get him in, in a panic, but there are millions of better options out there.

Perfect manager for Everton or Spurs.

Didn’t know that the saved shot against Barca before Origi’s tap in counts as an assist.

I as surprised by that statement. It was badly worded and for some reason, he blames him for the penalty in front of the media; which is a surprise because it is simply such in bad taste. If he wants his players to go out on a future possible penalty competition, then this is the way he should go about it. Destructive, and unfairly, since it pinpoints blame on Henderson for something that I cannot fathom he should really be blamed for. It is a penalty, someone needs to take it, both takers are out, Henderson captain wants to take it and takes responsibility. He could fail and he does but so could others even though some on the pitch may have been better. But why is failure seen as something so critical and negative ? It is a training game and all he got out of this was to bring one of his important players down mentally. When he could have supported him and told the media that “this happens, sometimes you miss. Both of our penalty takers were out, the captain took a decision. I am sure that if he gets a new chance sometime in the future, the result may be different” (and then if he wants, he can never give him the chance, but he should not say this in public obviously and he should not play ball with journalists with negatively loaded questions, but give them precise shorter answers if he knows that they are out for blood).
