Jordan HENDERSON MBE: 2020/21

Who got the captains armband?
and who became vice captain?

P.S my son plays that, he has been trying to force out Hendo for a couple of seasons now, Hendo refuses to leave.

The outrage over this today is odd. As if all of this is happening in a vacuum, with no context to how FSG do their contracts. Why in the world would FSG want to commit even more years to a 31 year old player that still has 2 years remaining on his current deal?

I’m having difficulty believing anyone actually thinks FSG is suddenly going to deviate from or alter their formula of doing contracts for any one particular player.

Your becoming hysterical!

Brendan bought Hendo from me in year 1 for 65M dollars. Sorry skipper, but the show goes on. Then United bought Bobby for $180M US…

I sold Bobby and Hendo and bought Mbappe… Move over Edwards I am looking for a new job haha

Buy Pep (the bald one) and make him the youth coach :sunglasses:

None of this makes any sense, I don’t expect they would feel that his value would go up next summer. And at 33 in two season time they will probably think his outlay has been recouped anyhow.

The contract thing makes no sense at all, if they were looking to sell him without any talk of contract that would make more sense.

I have a feeling they have had such little to feed on they’ve created this off the back of ā€œHenderson to be offered a new contractā€ a week back and now he hasn’t signed it.

ā€œComplicatedā€ yeah it is Dom King because you can’t explain why such a bullshit rumour would actually make sense.

Sell him.

He runs funny and has problems with his gait.

Won’t win anything

I got into it with someone’s comment about it being click bait and the response was ā€˜well gerrard nearly moved to Chelsea’ to which I said that’s irrelevant. He then said ā€˜klopp and hendo seem to have fallen out based on the reports, just like Rafa and Stevie did’

There’s a reason it’s called ā€˜the silly season’

That reminds me of a box I bought called the totally useless box, or something. It’s like a music box. You flick a switch on the outside and the lid of the box opens up, a hand comes out, flicks the switch off, then returns to the box :joy:

It’s great.

Bought a pile of them for friends and family one christmas. An utterly useless first world present and utterly brilliant.

Give the guy a contract with no end date. Captain of the most successful spells
For our clubs in the last 30 years and when he doesn’t play we look like Blackpool not Liverpool.

Neil Jones is also corroborating the story and is saying that neither Henderson nor Liverpool have a problem with how it has been reported.

So assuming that it’s indeed genuine, you have to ask what is the club thinking. Because if they are really entertaining the notion of selling someone of his pedigree, experience, know-how and influence, then they need to give their head a wobble. He is the one player for whom you make an exception. Not to mention how badly it would go down with Klopp after losing Wijnaldum in the same summer.

Worst case scenario should be that he sees out the last two years of his contract and the situation is revisited then. Losing him now would be unthinkable.

This surely has to be a hoax, isn’t it? No way Hendo would want to leave now. Why would he?

The other variable in this is his injury record, which is quietly pretty bad. For a player who has based his game on his engine, it’s not really something that can be sniffed at, especially as he enters his 30s.

It’s not an argument to sell him, but he has two years on his contract which takes him to 33. Liverpool will definitely want to keep him, but might want to see how he comes back off this latest injury before committing to four years (which probably what Hendo wants at this stage)

Even if a deal can’t be reached, you can still keep him for two more years and lose him when he’s in marked decline, which is not the end of the world.

It is a worry but Henderson’s contribution goes beyond what he does on the pitch. From welcoming new players to setting standards professionally along with Milner, he provides intangibles that aren’t quantifiable but are invaluable in instilling team spirit and keeping everyone on the same page.

His wages and contract should reflect everything he does and not just on his playing time.

Honestly, if Hendo leaves in 2023 for free, I’d not be too upset.

In reality, I expect no movement or change until at least Winter this year, more likely summer next, a 1 year extension.

That’s two years down the road.

Yep, which is when his contract is due to end.

The sudden clamour too see Hendo given a new contract at this stage is just caused by click bait and the anti-FSG mob.

At the close of this window all the accountants will be out claiming that FSG have screwed us again.

Gets boring really

Scenario 1; Henderson extends deal by a year or two but shouldn’t be a pay increase maybe even less guaranteed income and more on hitting certain targets as the contract goes on. Best outcome for me.

Scenario 2; Everyone quietly goes about things with nothing being said and Henderson says an emotional farewell in two years at 33 to play a final couple of years at a lesser side or in the states. Unfortunately already been ruined because of recent reports but would have been my next best.

Scenario 3; Extended by one year on same deal or better with option on a further one after that. Still a good outcome.

Unacceptable options;

Scenario 4; Henderson is sold this summer with the excuse of the contract situation but really more to do with combination of wage, injuries and age and the clubs PR engine churns up to make Henderson look like the badguy.

Scenario 5; Same but next summer departure. Still bad but not quite as bad as this summer.

Scenario 6; The outrage over these links lead to Henderson getting a bumper, long-term, extension offer with real good wage for several more seasons. Part of me wants this for Henderson as he deserves it as a guy but it would set a bad precedent for future contract renewals especially the likes of VvD and Salah who need extending too.
