“I have spent time in Russia also in my career and know Russian people; they are people with love in their hearts. This is not representative of them. It is not in their name. Showing support for Ukraine is separate. To support Ukraine now is about supporting humanity against brutality.
“So yes, continuing to prepare and play football matches against this backdrop isn’t easy but it is the job to do. And as Sunday showed, football still gives us the opportunity to present the best of ourselves and find joy in something that is about the collective and community."

He told ITV: "I didn’t feel a difference to the Champions League final…It felt as big as that to me.
"Was it time to win a trophy? Yes! Overdue? I wouldn’t say so. Last year was not the year to win a trophy, no chance. We didn’t have a defence. I wouldn’t say it was overdue but I would say ‘in time’.
"I think both sides knew there was a good chance this would work out. The way this club is, the way I am, yes, I would say it was suitable.
“I really don’t know [If I will stay on] Our owners understood things will take time, we needed that. They are interested in development as well and that is pretty helpful.”

Klopp on Sadio Mane and competition from Luis Diaz: "I’ve known Sadio nearly six years, as far as I have known him he’s never needed competition to be the best version of himself. I’m not sure bringing in Luis affected that part of his game. But playing centre suits Sadio very well as well.
“Sadio had some physical struggles since he came back [from AFCON]. He couldn’t use his immense physicality every few days. Before game against Man City, I thought it looks like Sadio physically and that’s why he was able to play the game he played.”
