I never thought there could be a player possible that can so easily make me forget we do not have Robbo playing tonight. There are aspects of his game which can improve but he is by far one of the top LBs in the league. Those crosses are meant to be put in back of the net. You don’t always need to spend 100 MN for quality full backs, you know
And he’s only 3.9m in the FPL… just saying
Kostas can count himself very unlucky, if he’s dropped for the West Ham game. On current form, he deserves his place.
It sends the wrong message if he does get dropped because he was excellent last night. His crossing really deserved a couple of goals.
Was very noticable Van Dijk talking him through the game as well, I think that’s key for him growing into the team.
I don’t want to sound too reactionary or unappreciative of Robertson, but it is hard to disagree.
I can see why Klopp is sticking with Robertson but if you were to pick a player on merit for their performances this season it would easily be Tsimikas.
Whilst Robbo is an excellent crosser of the ball, Tsimikas is a clear step ahead based on his performances so far. That’s no slight on Robbo at all, Tsimikas’ delivery has just been that good. The only left back I can think of who puts in the same sort of quality is Angelino, and he’s not really a proper left back.
Robertson’s defensive play has dropped off a level too. Far too often is he the deepest player and playing everybody onside. With Tsimikas looking fine defensively, it’s surely getting more difficult to leave him out.
To find a back up for Robbo looked impossible on paper, but the club selected Tsimikas, coached him and now he is a perfect option. Remarkable really. I thought he should have started against Brighton, and he definitely should start against West Ham.
Kostas €13m
Poor lad, would have been a starter in 19 other PL clubs and he ended up at Liverpool.
Robbo seems to be 2nd guessing his crosses, in the Brighton game he received a ball that in the past he would havw delivered 1st time, loads of players in the box, however he took a touch and put in a poor cross and our players had already made their runs. Robbo, like Trent used to deliver 1st time and our players expect it as happened with Trents cross for Jotas goal and Tsimi does the same, for me he should start v West Ham
More than the individual quality, lot of credit goes to the coaching staff and Klopp as well. He may look like a starter in the other 19 PL clubs now, but possibly not if he would have directly signed for one of those.
Except Everton, because they’ve got the best left back in the world, apparently.
His final delivery is better than robbo… He goes deeper in and plays the final ball better…
What robbo is better at is in defending… But kostas isn’t bad at that either…
Either way on form… Tsimikas should be the defender who is starting
He wouldn’t start for City.
Needs to add another 32M before they would look at him
He’s also the best corner taker at the club
Anyone think him and Robbo could play together on the left? Could he cover Mane as well as Robbo? Or could Kostas do a job a right back - read that he’s two footed?
Think it’s more likely Kostas being able to play in midfield or even an emergency right forward, Klopp like left footed right wingers and right footed left wingers. With how effective he’s been in attacking plays recently its Neco Williams I wouldn’t mind seeing given a run out here and there at left wing. Especially with Bradley breaking through as a back up RB.
Klopp and the coaching stuff did it with Robertson, Tsimikas, and now doing it with Konate too. Rather than throwing a player into deep end, they fine-tune him physically and technically. This patient approach has great long-term benefits.
At this moment in time i see no reason why Kostas should not be starting ahead of Robbo. His form right now warrants it.
A little rest for Robbo will do him good. He has basically started for 4 years
Fabinho too It was months before we saw him play.
Kostas deserves another start on Sunday but judging by Jurgens comments in his press conference today it probably won’t happen…
Kostas has obviously a lot of quality but what I just don’t like about these kind of things is that we are always so early.
"What does it mean, ‘Pushed Andy Robertson’? He pushed Andy Robertson, he is doing that, but Andy Robertson is in my eyes probably the best left-back in the world so that makes it really tricky.
"But it’s good that we have the option that we can give Robbo a rest in moments, even when he doesn’t like it and doesn’t need it in his understanding.
