Kostas TSIMIKAS: 2021/22

I think Robbo gets moved about for Tierney. He played on the right in the last internationals.

However, I think Tsimikas is a lot less defensively sound than Robbo.

I think Tierney plays LCB while Robertson plays some hybrid LWB LM.

Robbo played on the right of a five for Scotland?
I really like Tierney, and I understand Clarke has an impossible task of fitting so much talent into an XI, but I struggle to see Robbo anywhere but left-back.

Probably Riise and Aurelio (who was an excellent player hampered by injuries), although both Robbo and Tsimi are better than either of those.

No, Tierney did a few times (before they opted for this 3 at the back with Tierney LCB and Robbo LWB).

We donā€™t really play with a left winger do we.

3 in midfield are all central midfielders and our front 3ā€¦ Iā€™d consider them attackers rather than wingers.

Would you play Kostas as a left sides forward? I donā€™t think so

You could see him on the left side in Rafaā€™s 4231, but heā€™s not getting in there ahead of, say, Sadio or Jota in a Klopp team.

If we want to play 80s style 4-4-2 sure. Otherwise, no. Being able to contribute well to attacks form FB is not the same thing as being able to play as a forward.

Heā€™ll certainly need to be a bit more versatile if he wants to feature regularly. Is he any good with his right feet? The likes of Milly and to an extent even Trent may be able to switch the full back positions without that much loss in quality, but Tsimikas and even Robbo am not sure.

I still think Tsimikas and Robbo could be a better option at RB (if needed) than having Gomez there who, as far as my memory goes, doesnā€™t contribute much going forward when playing as a full back, but rather on getting the job done defensively.

Wow, this really escalatedā€¦ :joy:

He played a dozen times for us. Robbo is still clearly our first choice. For how long? Who knows, thatā€™s not our worry. We just need a top consistent performer at LB, whoever that is.

These are examples where it shows how we are inexperienced as a fan base. We havenā€™t seen enough what is like to support a successful team, dare I say a serial winner team (which we have to prove yet, after enjoying a nice year of trophies in 19-20).

A club competing on all fronts should have ā€œproblemsā€ like these. And really, itā€™s not even a problem yet. Sure, even at best sides, you often donā€™t have all 11 positions covered well enough. But most should be covered well.

It wasnā€™t all catastrophic last season when Tsimi didnā€™t play. When some questioned what is the point of having him in the squad. Klopp explained why it was so. But it could be seen that thereā€™s some decent quality there and that he would play more in a more normal defensive situation this season. Now, itā€™s not so complicated. Robbo is first choice (and itā€™s incredible how much intense football heā€™s played in last years), Tsimi is a backup, who should get enough game time this season. And thatā€™s it.

Itā€™s still far, far from the situation where we need to invent new positions in order to keep Tsimi happy, that he doesnā€™t wish to move. When/if that time comes, then we might sell him and move onto someone else (and then who knows what will our need be, a new backup, or a new LB starter).

I understand asking questions if thereā€™s an alternative position and that is good talk. In this case with Robbo and Tsimi, I think thereā€™s not. Except in real emergency, nothing serious.

How many feet does he have?

I think itā€™s just a bit of flirting with the theoretical, for the sake of flirting with the theoretical, rather than anyone genuinely suggesting Tsimi is a consideration for the left side.

Most supporters around my age, give or take a few years either way, have no recollection of us having a quality, balanced XI, let alone quality in depth.

Might as well enjoy it.

Hi pushing Robbo will make Robbo better.

He is a solid back up but Robbo gets in our best 11 but in the past he has been over used.

Kostas means he gets a breather now and again

I always used to say that had Aurelio not been utterly wrecked by injuries, he would have been a glorious centre mid in the mould of Xabi. Outrageous passing range on the lad.

Rafa gave him a couple of games there but it was obvious his body couldnā€™t cope.

Nar, I dont buy that. Robbo is an absolute monster and doesnt remotely need that sort of external motivation. Far more valuable is simply having someone Klopp trusts that can enable him to sit down occasionally or as needed. We dont need a better version of Robbo, we need a way to protect him so we can maintain this best version of him.

Ye thatā€™s what I said. He can be rested and we have a capable back up

In todayā€™s match at around 81:35 minutes, Tsimi ā€œtouchedā€ and ā€œfouledā€ Watfordā€™s #33, Juraj Kucka. I think that it was more of a Vulcan Nerve Pinch on the collarbone. Kucka tumbled like he was smacked on the face/right ear. It was actually such a great move by Tsimi. Too bad that a foul was given against him.

Lovely shiner there for Kostas

Somehow makes him look more awake! Never seen anyone who looks more tired than me in my life, especially not a professional athlete!
